A trip to Shanghai Disneyland is always exciting—but let’s face it, long lines can take up a big chunk of your day. Without a smart plan, you might only manage to experience a few attractions. This guide will walk you through 5 practical ways to save time and cut down on waiting : using Standby Passes, visiting during off-peak hours, purchasing Disney Premier Access, booking Concierge Services, and staying at a Disney hotel for early park entry.
Before your visit, be sure to download the official “Shanghai Disney Resort” app. You’ll need it to check wait times, book passes, and navigate the park efficiently.
1. Standby Pass (Free)
The Standby Pass is a free virtual reservation system available through the Shanghai Disney Resort app. It allows you to book a time slot to queue for certain popular attractions—yes, there’s still a line, but your wait time will be much shorter.
-
You can start booking as soon as you enter the park.
-
Each Standby Pass is valid for a 60-minute window , during which you must show up at the attraction's Standby Pass entrance.
-
Available only between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM and only for selected high-demand rides.
-
Attractions outside of this time slot are open to all guests—no Standby Pass needed.
-
The system may not be in use every day (usually on days with low attendance).
-
You can check which attractions offer Standby Passes that day directly in the app.
Pro Tip : Try to grab your pass 5 minutes before the hour (e.g., at 13:55). You can link tickets for up to 5 friends in the app and grab passes for everyone in one go. Just remember, the pass gives you the right to queue , not skip the line entirely.
Steps to Use Standby Pass :
-
Download the Shanghai Disney Resort app and create an account.
-
Tap "Get Standby Pass" on the home page.
-
Link your park ticket by scanning the QR code.
-
Choose an attraction and select your time slot.
-
Confirm and receive your pass.
-
Head to the “Standby Pass Entrance” at your scheduled time.
-
In the app, tap “Use Now.”
-
Scan the QR code on your phone or park ticket to enter.
You can also create a group in the app and link your friends’ tickets for group reservations.
2. Visit During Off-Peak Hours
Avoid peak dates : Skip weekends, holidays, and school breaks if possible.
Avoid showtimes : The “Mickey’s Storybook Express” parade and the nighttime “Illuminate! A Nighttime Celebration” attract big crowds. If you’re not into the shows, it’s a great time to hop on rides with shorter lines.
Use the Single Rider line : If you're traveling solo (or don’t mind splitting up), this line moves much faster. Note: friends cannot use this option together.
3. Buy Disney Premier Access (Paid)
Disney Premier Access lets you skip the regular line and enter through a priority queue at selected attractions.
-
Sold in single-attraction or multi-attraction bundles via the app after park entry.
-
Limited quantity available daily—first come, first served.
-
Valid only on the day of purchase and linked to your ticket (non-transferable).
-
A Premier Access bundle covering 8 top attractions (like TRON Lightcycle Power Run and Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure) costs ¥660/person.
Prices and availability vary depending on the season and promotions, so be sure to check the official site before your visit.
Is Premier Access worth it?
For first-timers or those keen on hitting the big-name rides, absolutely. Since Shanghai Disneyland no longer offers free FastPasses, buying Premier Access or Concierge Services can save you tons of time and energy. On our recent visit, we used Premier Access to ride 14 attractions in one day , including repeat visits to TRON and Pirates, and even caught five shows. Worth it!
4. Book Concierge Services (Paid)
For a VIP experience, Disney also offers Concierge Services , which include priority access to rides and reserved seating for shows. Ideal for families with kids or older travelers.
-
Can be purchased before your visit via the Shanghai Disney Resort app or official WeChat account.
-
Starting from ¥690 in low season and ¥995 in high season—actual prices vary based on demand.
-
The more expensive the date, the more crowded the park will be.
Pro Tip : The only trusted channels to book are the official Disney app and the Shanghai Disney Resort WeChat account.
How to Book Concierge Service :
-
Register in the app.
-
Navigate to: Park Info & Services > Buy Tickets > Concierge Service.
-
Select your date and package type (Classic or Deluxe).
-
Pay and save the confirmation.
-
You can check your booking in the app.
⚠️ Note: Admission tickets are not included. Concierge Services become available 10 days in advance of your visit.
5. Stay at a Disney Resort Hotel for Early Park Entry
Guests staying at either the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel or Toy Story Hotel get early access to the park.
-
The dedicated entrance is located at Disneytown , and it opens about an hour before regular park hours.
-
You can ride the resort shuttle in the morning and enter with:
-
Your hotel-issued credential card,
-
A valid park ticket for the day, and
-
Your ID/passport.
-
This perk can help you experience top rides before the crowds arrive.
