Universal Beijing Resort Guide: Must-Try Rides & Shows
Universal Beijing Resort features seven themed zones , each offering a unique adventure: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ , Transformers Metrobase , Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness , Minion Land , Jurassic World Isla Nublar , Hollywood , and WaterWorld.
For adults , The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ and Transformers Metrobase are top picks for a nostalgic yet thrilling experience. With immersive storylines, high-quality sets, and adrenaline-pumping rides, these zones bring childhood fantasies back to life.
For families with kids , Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness , Minion Land , and Jurassic World Isla Nublar offer gentler attractions, air-conditioned indoor settings, and playful interactive elements that appeal to both children and grown-ups.
The Hollywood zone focuses on Universal’s signature "movie magic atmosphere" — complete with street parades and behind-the-scenes experiences that showcase the brand's creative craftsmanship.
Don’t miss the spectacular WaterWorld live show — a high-energy performance that you'll definitely fall in love with.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™
" A 5D dark ride classic — thrilling, immersive, and rewatchable."
💡 Approx. 7-minute experience | Express Pass available | Moderate thrill
⏱ Open daily 09:00–20:00 | Indoor attraction | Often long wait times
Arguably one of the top three must-try attractions in the park (alongside Decepticoaster and WaterWorld). This 5D ride takes you through the corridors and classrooms of Hogwarts™ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry , flying with Harry Potter™ and his friends through the magical castle. The immersive effects are incredible, but queues are often long.
🧳 All bags must be stored in the lockers at the entrance to prevent items from falling during the ride.Tips : Lockers are free for 1 hour , but cost ¥50/hour after that — quite pricey. Since wait times usually exceed an hour, consider storing everyone’s items in a single locker. If you have an Express Pass, it can help shorten the queue and reduce locker fees.
The queueing area is quite long, but beautifully themed — a great photo spot!
📱 Staff will let you bring your phone in, but you cannot use it during the ride. For safety, keep it in a zippered pocket if you want to take photos while waiting.
Flight of the Hippogriff™
" A mini roller coaster that ends just when it starts to get exciting."
💡 Approx. 20-second ride | Express Pass available | Low thrill
⏱ Open daily 09:00–20:00 | Outdoor attraction | Often long queues
This is a small outdoor roller coaster located next to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™. The ride is quite short — there's one exciting drop, and then it's over. If the line is long, you might consider skipping it. However, during the evening light show , this area offers a great viewing spot.

Transformers Metrobase: Thrills and 5D Action

Step into the high-tech world of Transformers Metrobase(变形金刚基地,Biànxíng Jīngāng Jīdì) , where powerful rides and immersive effects bring the battle between Autobots and Decepticons to life.
Decepticoaster
" Tied for No.1 ride — a heart-racing coaster you’ll want to ride again!"
💡 Approx. 3-minute ride | Express Pass available | High thrill level
⏱ Open daily 09:00–20:00 | Outdoor ride | Often long queues
In my opinion, this is the most thrilling ride in the entire park. The coaster uses a launch system that blasts you from 0 to 104 km/h in just 4.5 seconds — an electrifying start!
You’ll hit three major high points throughout the ride. It's intense but manageable, and any stress you have will vanish into the air. Honestly, it’s so fun I nearly forgot I had to come back and write this guide.
As long as you’re in good health (no heart conditions, high blood pressure, pregnancy, spinal issues, or vertigo), this ride is absolutely worth it. Expect pure joy.
🧳 All belongings must be stored before entering — including phones, cameras, and even glasses. Security will check. Lockers are free for 1 hour , then ¥50/hour afterward, so consider sharing a locker if you’re with friends. Express Pass is also helpful to reduce wait time and locker fees.
Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark
" Fog, water sprays, and an immersive 5D storyline — worth a second ride!"
💡 Approx. 7-minute ride | Express Pass available | Moderate thrill
⏱ Open daily 08:00–20:00 | Indoor ride | Often long queues
If you only have time for one 5D dark ride , this is the one to pick. With a fast-paced plot and realistic special effects — including fog and water — this ride makes you feel like you’re part of the action.
It’s located near Decepticoaster and usually has shorter queues early in the morning or just before closing. If you have extra time, it’s worth riding again.
Bumblebee Spin
" A spinning teacup ride — fun for kids, dizzy for adults."
💡 Approx. 3-minute ride | Express Pass available | Low thrill
⏱ Open daily 09:00–20:00 | Indoor ride | Often long queues
This one’s for the little ones! Think of it as a “spinning teacup” style ride themed around Bumblebee. It’s a cute and fun parent-child experience , though adults may find it a bit underwhelming. If you get motion sickness or have neck issues, you might want to skip it.
If there’s a long line, it’s okay to move on.

Unlike your typical rapid raft rides, this one is a calm 5D boat journey through the animated universe of Kung Fu Panda. Sail with Po as he faces off against the “most dangerous Kung Fu villains” — a delightful experience especially for families.
There’s only one mild drop , and even then, guests seated in the middle likely won’t get wet. If you're sitting on the sides, it's smart to roll up your sleeves and pant legs — just in case.
Carousel of Kung Fu Heroes
" A themed carousel that brings your childhood memories back — Kung Fu style."
💡 Approx. 2-minute ride | Express Pass available | Low thrill

Lanterns of Legendary Legends
" Chinese lantern-style flying ride — fun, breezy, and beautiful."
💡 Approx. 2-minute ride | Express Pass available | Low thrill
⏱ Open daily 09:00–20:00 | Indoor ride | Longer wait times
This ride puts you in a lantern-themed “hot air balloon” basket that gently flies around the zone. One of the best family rides in this area, it offers fantastic views of the entire Kung Fu Panda world — plus it’s nice and cool inside.
Kung Fu Games
" A paid basketball game — land a shot and win a prize!"
💡 Extra cost: ¥35/game | No Express Pass | Low thrill
⏱ Open daily 09:00–20:00 | Indoor attraction | Short wait time

This is a 5D train-style ride through the story of Jurassic World. Compared to Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark , the thrill level is a bit milder but still immersive.
Don’t miss the stunning entrance hall — it’s one of the most photogenic spots in the park, with sleek, cinematic design that sets the mood perfectly.
Raptor Encounter
" A photo and interaction experience with a life-size raptor — perfect for kids!"
💡 Approx. 10-minute experience | No Express Pass | Low thrill
⏱ Open daily 09:00–20:00 | Indoor attraction | Moderate wait time

Jurassic Flyers

This is one of the most thematic and cinematic experiences in the park. Set in a soundstage-style environment, it gives many visitors their first behind-the-scenes look at real movie production.
Co-directed by Steven Spielberg and Zhang Yimou, the show uses practical effects to simulate dramatic natural disasters — from crashing waves to stormy skies — all within the walls of a small room.
It's a love letter to the art of filmmaking , capturing the true spirit of Universal Studios. Less about thrills, more about awe and inspiration.
WaterWorld Stunt Show
" An adrenaline-pumping water stunt show — tight storyline, jaw-dropping effects."
💡 Approx. 30-minute show | Express Pass available | Medium thrill
⏱ Three shows daily (check app for latest schedule) | Indoor venue | Long wait time
Don’t miss this one — it’s the signature show of Universal Beijing Resort.
Set in a water-filled arena, this live-action spectacle features planes, boats, jet skis , and massive explosions — all packed into a single stage. Expect diving stunts, sudden fire bursts , and heart-racing fight scenes that feel like you’re in the middle of an action movie.
The storyline is fast-paced , the effects are cinematic, and the energy never drops. It’s hands-down the most thrilling live show in the park.
