How to Visit

Use the ancient city as your base
Stay near the old city if you want easy access to food, wells, Zhu Family Garden, Chaoyang Tower, Confucius Temple, and short rides to western sights.
Tip:This reduces backtracking.

Walk the core sights first
A practical first route is Chaoyang Tower, Lin'an Road, Zhu Family Garden, Imperial Examination Hall, and Jianshui Confucius Temple.
Tip:Most first-time visitors can do this without a car.

Save western sights for a separate block
Shuanglong Bridge, Xianghui Bridge, Tuanshan, and the excursion train sit outside the core old city and work better as a half-day route.

Jianshui is also a food stop. Leave time for tofu, rice noodles, steam-pot chicken, and local drinks around the old city.
