Village area and opening arrangements
Beigang Village is in Liushui Town on Pingtan's northern route. Common access points include the Beigang Village Visitor Center and the Rainbow Embankment at the village entrance. The village and public roads are free to enter all day. Light is usually softer between 15:00 and 18:00 for walking and viewing the stone houses, but shops, workshops, and guesthouses keep their own hours.
A quick walk takes about 1-2 hours; first-time visitors should allow about 3 hours. Anyone planning a craft activity, a slower break, or an overnight stay needs to confirm the activity time and accommodation location separately. Residents still live in the village, so stay on public lanes and in open areas.
Who it suits
Beigang Village suits visitors interested in traditional stone houses, slow village walks, crafts, and coastal photography. It is an open village rather than a closed attraction with one ticket gate. Lanes, homes, workshops, and seaside areas have different access boundaries, so leave room for residents and vehicles while walking.

Stone houses and village lanes
Granite houses climb the hillside. Stones pressed onto the roofs, thick walls, and small windows show how the local coastal architecture responds to strong winds. Visitors can observe the buildings, lane gradients, and relationship between the village and the sea from outside. Some houses are still private homes, so do not enter unopened courtyards or rooms.
The stone houses reward a slow look; there is no need to walk every lane. With older adults, children, or luggage, use flatter public sections first and turn back at narrow bends.
Rainbow Embankment, pier, and creative spaces
The Rainbow Embankment and seaside boardwalk at the village entrance work well for a short sea-view stop. Creative workshops and craft spaces inside the village depend on the day's opening arrangements. Some platforms and terraces may be operated by businesses, so follow the signs and the shop's rules for entry, photography, and purchases.
Experiences such as "The Stones Sing" can be one possible stop, but displays, hours, and participation rules may change. Keeping the focus on the village architecture and public coast makes the visit easier to adjust.
Who it suits
Beigang Village is good for traditional architecture, photography, a gentle family walk, and a slower northern itinerary. The village beach is not the main place for swimming or beachcombing. For water activities or a wider beach, choose Changjiang'ao or another public coast instead.
Build your day
Short route: about 1-2 hours
Start at the Rainbow Embankment, follow the seaside boardwalk for a section, then enter the open stone-house lanes and return to the village entrance. With limited time, this covers the entrance, coast, and architecture without repeated detours into narrow lanes in search of a particular courtyard.
When arriving in the afternoon, see the public coast and village exterior first, then decide whether any workshops are open. As the light fades or crowds grow, return to the parking area by a familiar main road.
First visit: about 3 hours
Follow a route from the Rainbow Embankment to the seaside boardwalk, open creative spaces, waterside stone lanes, and village viewpoints, then return to the entrance. Workshop and terrace access depends on the day. Keep your distance when photographing private homes and avoid blocking the lanes.
An elevated viewpoint along the open route can provide views of the wind-turbine coast. The uphill section adds walking effort. With children or older adults, start with the flatter village sections and decide later whether to continue upward.
A slower overnight visit
If you stay in Beigang Village, see the stone houses and creative workshops during the day, return to the public coast in the evening for the changing light, and then decide whether to look for Blue Tears according to the weather and season. Village roads and the coast have limited lighting at night, so confirm the location of your accommodation and the route back to your room.
Beigang is some distance from the county town, making dinner and supplies less convenient at night. Stay in the county town or near Longwangtou for easier dining; choose village accommodation only after preparing personal supplies and respecting residents' quiet hours.
Get there
Driving and parking
When driving, navigate to "Beigang Village Parking Lot" and leave the vehicle outside the village before walking in. Village roads are narrow and can become congested in peak season. Guests staying at a local guesthouse should confirm parking with the property; outside parking may charge by visit, depending on the day.
Do not drive into narrow village lanes or stop at the entrance in a way that blocks residents or pickup vehicles. Allow time to walk back to the car when leaving. In peak season, you can park once and use an electric scooter for nearby northern stops.
Pingtan Station, taxis, and electric scooters
A taxi from Pingtan Station commonly takes about 30 minutes, with the fare changing by time and traffic. Electric scooters commonly cost around CNY 50-80 per day and work for moving along the northern route. Confirm the actual range and battery-swap locations when renting, because the northern attractions are far apart.
Northern bus services have limited schedules and coverage, so village-to-village transfers need another plan. Without a car, arrange the next transfer and the evening route back to your accommodation in advance.
Know before you go
Residential space and walking conditions
Beigang is an inhabited village. Homes, workspaces, and shops are not all open to visitors. Use public roads, avoid residents' entrances and daily work when taking photos, and stay out of courtyards, rooms, and closed spaces.
There are slopes, steps, and narrow lanes. Wear comfortable flat shoes. With luggage, a stroller, or an older companion with limited mobility, stay near the entrance, boardwalk, and flatter sections rather than forcing a complete circuit.
Beach, accommodation, and supplies
The village beach and facilities may not be suitable for dedicated beachcombing or swimming. Choose Changjiang'ao or Tannan Bay for a more substantial beach activity; Beigang itself is better for architecture, lanes, and a short stop.
Dining and nighttime supplies are limited in the village, and each business sets its own prices and hours. Ask about the price and contents before ordering food or joining a workshop. Return to the county town for a wider choice of meals and transport.
