Plan at a glance
Location, entrance, and day/night sessions
Jiangjun Mountain is at the southern tip of Pingtan Island, in Dafu Village, Aodong Town. The usual entrance is the Jiangjun Mountain Scenic Area Visitor Center. The attraction combines sea-eroded rocks, mountain paths, military heritage, and high coastal viewpoints. A quick route takes about 1 hour; the full adventure route takes about 2.5-3 hours.
The daytime adult ticket commonly centers around CNY 19-20, with possible half-price tickets for students and older adults. The parking area is about 1 kilometer uphill from the entrance, and the sightseeing bus commonly costs around CNY 10 per person. The daytime opening-hours reference is 08:00-17:30, but core sections such as Yixiantian may close early, around 16:30. The nighttime "Lanqi Shanhaitu" light show is sold separately, commonly around 19:30-22:30.
Who it suits
Jiangjun Mountain suits visitors interested in mountain paths, sea-eroded landforms, military history, and high coastal views. The area includes steep slopes, narrow gaps, wet rock, and sections requiring hands for support. With older adults, children, or anyone uncomfortable in narrow passages, use the outer viewpoints and shorter route.
Daytime and nighttime are different visit plans. If you want Yixiantian and the mountain route during the day, put the core route early. Whether the nighttime light show runs, whether a sightseeing bus is included, and what is offered that day all follow the on-site ticketing and operating arrangements.

Joint Military Exercise Memorial and high coastal views
The Joint Military Exercise Memorial is about 31.8 meters high. The surrounding area provides context about the military exercises and high views toward the Taiwan Strait. Whether the screening room and memorial facilities are open depends on the day, so combine the monument, historical content, and viewpoint if the relevant areas are operating.
From the high ground, you can see Aixin Half Bay and the southern coastline. Tide, cloud, and visibility affect the bay's shape and the distant view. Stay on viewing platforms and open paths when taking photos rather than walking toward the cliff edge for a better angle.
Yixiantian and the Leishi cave group
Yixiantian is a narrow natural rock passage, with the tightest point allowing about one person to pass sideways. Some sections require using hands and feet. It is one of the more physically demanding parts of Jiangjun Mountain. Visitors with broad shoulders, limited mobility, or little experience in narrow passages should choose carefully; the latter half is not recommended for older adults or young children.
The Leishi cave group, Houhai Giant Rocks, and cliff inscriptions are stops for both landforms and history along the mountain route. Wetness, crowds, and the managed area affect walking. Shorten the route after rain or in strong wind.
Who it suits
Visitors who enjoy short hikes, sea-eroded landforms, outdoor photography, and defense history are the best fit for the full route. Families can choose the memorial, ordinary viewpoints, and the outer coastal scenery without entering Yixiantian.
Build your day
Short route: about 1 hour
Take the sightseeing bus or walk from the entrance to the summit area, then see the Joint Military Exercise Memorial, suspended walkway, and Aixin Half Bay before returning on the open route. With limited time, this keeps the high coastal views and the main theme. Whether to take the bus depends on your energy and the day's vehicle service.
Include the uphill walk from the parking area, waiting time, and summit walking in the plan. Start early, since Yixiantian and other core areas may close around 16:30.
Adventure route: about 2.5-3 hours
Follow the uphill trail from the entrance past the cliff inscriptions and Houhai Giant Rocks, then continue to Yixiantian, Dianjiangtai, and Aixin Half Bay before descending along the route. Visitors hoping for sunset can put Dianjiangtai or a high viewpoint later, but must confirm the core areas and return time first.
Yixiantian requires sideways passage through narrow gaps. Turn back from an outer viewpoint if there are crowds, wet ground after rain, or insufficient energy in the group. The sightseeing bus only reduces the uphill section between the parking area and entrance; it does not replace walking through the mountain path and rock passage.
Daytime, sunset, and nighttime
Finish Yixiantian and the other core route sections before 16:30 during a daytime visit, then use Dianjiangtai or a high viewpoint afterward. Staying after 19:00 may enter the separately charged and managed nighttime period. If you want sunset, confirm how the daytime and nighttime sessions connect.
The nighttime "Lanqi Shanhaitu" light show commonly runs around 19:30-22:30. Confirm whether it operates every day, what the light show includes, and how the sightseeing bus works. Daytime admission and the nighttime product are separate purchases; daytime admission does not include the nighttime program.
Get there
Driving and parking
When driving, navigate to "Jiangjun Mountain Scenic Area." There is free parking at the foot of the mountain, but spaces are limited, so arriving early helps. Some parking areas are about 1 kilometer uphill from the entrance; confirm the bus, boarding point, and price on site.
Use formal parking areas. With older adults, children, or a lot of equipment, confirm the walking distance to the entrance first. Do not leave a vehicle on an unclear roadside spot or anywhere that blocks traffic just to shorten the walk.
Pingtan Station, buses, and electric scooters
A taxi from Pingtan Station commonly takes about 20 minutes. Bus 31 can reach the "Jiangjun Mountain" stop. An electric scooter can reach the southern route, but there are many slopes and strong sun, so check the battery and return route before leaving.
Without a car, arrange the vehicle for after the visit in advance. Jiangjun Mountain, Tannan Bay, Dafu Bay, and the 68 Nautical Miles Scenic Area are separate transport points; one southern entrance cannot be used to estimate every transfer.
Know before you go
Core route and time limits
Yixiantian and other core areas may close around 16:30. Enter the narrow passage and cave group in the earlier part of the daytime session. The light show after 19:30 is a separate arrangement; arriving late for the daytime session does not create an automatic transition into the nighttime show.
Confirm the price and inclusions of the daytime ticket, nighttime light show, and sightseeing bus separately. Food options near the scenic area are limited, so bring enough water and a small amount of food, especially if you plan to walk the full mountain route.
Shoes, physical effort, and insects
Wear shoes with good grip on the mountain paths and rocks. Some sections require using your hands for support. There can be many insects on the mountain, so long trousers, long sleeves, and insect repellent are useful. After rain, in strong wind, or with poor visibility, choose the standard paths and outer viewpoints.
Older adults, children, and visitors with broad shoulders or little comfort in narrow spaces can skip the latter half of Yixiantian. If rocks are wet, paths are crowded, or core areas are closed, return along the open route. The sea views and memorial can still make a complete short visit.
