Visit Guomari Ancient Fortress as a living village
After arriving in Guomari Village, enter through public lanes and walk slowly through the rammed-earth walls, narrow alleys, and village layout.
Tip:This is not a closed military-ruin park. Public village areas are open all day, but that does not allow entry to private homes or disruption of daily life.

Walk the lanes slowly and keep track of the route back to the main road
The value of the fortress is in its still-used lanes and residential setting. Walking helps explain the defensive layout better than rushing through for photos.
Tip:The alleys are narrow and winding. Avoid blocking residents, and use an offline map or travel with someone to reduce repeated backtracking.

Treat Guomari Monastery as a separate stop
After the fortress, visit Guomari Monastery through its own entrance and according to that day's rules.
Tip:Do not describe the monastery, stupa, or halls as exhibits inside the fortress; the two places have different visitor boundaries.
