Forest, valleys and icefalls
Dabingou (大冰沟) is in Sishanling (思山岭街道), Nanfen District (南芬区). The park has mountain peaks, waterfalls, pools, magnolias, including the Tianü magnolia (天女木兰), and forest trails. Nature walks, sites associated with the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army—a Chinese resistance force that fought Japanese occupation in Northeast China—and amusement rides are different ways to visit; choose a focus based on your group’s interests.
Choose a focus by season
Activities vary considerably by season. In winter, there may be an ice lake and snow-tubing activities; spring and summer are suited to valley walks and rafting; autumn is mainly for foliage. Check which activities and opening hours apply to the season before deciding how long to stay.

Focus on mountain and stream trails
Yuhuang Peak (玉皇峰), Wulian Pool (五连池), Wolong Lake (卧龙湖), streamside waterfalls, Tianü magnolias (天女木兰) and Fengwangtai (枫王台) are places to see forest and water scenery. Choose a section of valley trail that is open that day and follow the signs for a turnaround point. The sites are spread through the mountains; do not assume every stop can be reached on one short walk.
Learn about the Anti-Japanese United Army sites
Dabingou preserves a secret camp site of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army and has an educational base about the army. If you are interested in this history, first find out whether the site is open that day, then plan a guided visit or a nature walk. The historical site and the valley scenery cover different areas.
Choose amusement rides
Elevated rafting rides, mountain coasters, fast ziplines, snow-tube slides and forest roller coasters may change with the season, weather and maintenance schedule. Choose from the rides open on the day. You can also visit independently on foot if you are interested only in the mountain scenery.
For a separate canyon-and-adventure visit in Nanfen, see Benxi Grand Canyon.
Build your day
Walk out and back along a valley trail
From the entrance, choose an open valley trail and waterfall viewpoints, then return along the same open path. Before continuing to Wulian Pool, Wolong Lake or a higher viewpoint, confirm how each connects to your current trail and where you can turn back. Do not infer a walking route from the endpoint of a mountain coaster or rafting ride.
Add a seasonal activity separately
Treat rafting, mountain coasters, ziplines and winter snow activities as separate experiences. Before setting out, ask the park whether the activity is open, where it starts and ends, and how to return to the entrance. A ride endpoint may not connect to the parking area or another trail.
Return and transfers
The shuttle between the car park and the main entrance, transfers within the park and return transport from amusement rides are separate arrangements. If you are not driving, arrange transport to and from the park and confirm the last service before your visit. If you are driving, confirm how to return to your parking area before choosing how far to walk.
Get there
Navigation and driving
Search for “大冰沟森林公园” (“Dabingou Forest Park”) in your navigation app. The address is Yongziyu Village (甬子峪村), Sishanling Subdistrict (思山岭街道), Nanfen District (南芬区). Dabingou Forest Park is about 20 km from Qiaotou Exit (桥头出口) on the Shenyang–Dandong Expressway. Follow signs from the exit towards the scenic area; call 024-43819999 before setting out to confirm the navigation destination.
Transfers if you are not driving
Before departure, arrange transport both ways from Benxi or Nanfen to the park, and confirm the pick-up point and departure time after your visit. If you plan to use public transport, first confirm that day’s departure point, schedule and last service, then buy any required tickets.
Know before you go
Tickets and ride restrictions
Check separately what is included in the admission ticket, park shuttle, sightseeing bus and amusement rides, as well as the change and cancellation terms. Rafting, mountain coasters, ziplines and snow activities each have their own height, weight or health requirements. Follow the safety instructions for the activity you choose; one ride’s ticket price does not show that other activities are included.
Seasons and mountain safety
Valley visits in summer, autumn foliage and winter snow activities each have their own operating periods and are affected by weather. Stone surfaces in the valleys can be slippery after rain. When choosing an open trail, consider the return section and do not enter closed valleys. Wear shoes with good grip. Follow safety requirements for water and aerial adventure rides. International visitors using a passport as ID should check which documents are accepted, what payment methods are available and how tickets are verified on arrival.
