Nightclubs & Bars

1. Jinsha International Music Hall – EDM & Clubbing Fun

Jinsha International Music Hall
One highly recommended spot is PlayHouse , probably one of the most popular nightclubs in Chengdu. Originally a music hall and theater, it’s now transformed into the city’s largest nightclub, spanning over a thousand square meters. Every night, thousands of young people dance to high-energy electronic music, creating an atmosphere comparable to a massive EDM festival.
  • Why go: A must-visit for dance enthusiasts; it’s also a hotspot for trendy locals, offering the latest and most cutting-edge dance experiences.
  • Who it’s for: Extremely high-energy and intense! Once inside, the music hits you like another world, with non-stop climaxes from the DJ. Not suitable for heart patients or older visitors.
  • Average cost: ¥200+, no individual tables—only VIP tables with a minimum spend of around ¥1300, ideal for groups of 3–5.

  • Why go: To experience the nightlife favored by Chengdu’s affluent crowd.

5. Poly Center

Poly Center
Nicknamed the “Chongqing Tower” or “Magic Cube Building,” Poly Center offers a variety of food, drinks, and entertainment. Although many bars moved due to urban planning, a few remain, including Tag House Club , popular with locals seeking fun rather than luxury.
  • Why go: Many are foreign-owned bars, offering unique experiences.
  • Who it’s for: Fans of international culture; some spots are hidden inside regular apartment buildings.
  • Average cost: ¥150, VIP tables at ¥800.

6. Little Tavern (Xiao Jiuguan)

Little Tavern (Xiao Jiuguan)
Established in 1997, this cozy bar on Yulin Road is perfect for a laid-back, artsy evening. Unlike bustling Chunxi Road, Yulin offers tree-lined streets, murals, and a quaint neighborhood vibe.
During the day, explore the surroundings; in the evening, sip craft beer while listening to folk music. The small, dimly-lit space, walls adorned with framed photos and artwork, creates a quiet, melancholic atmosphere beloved by young creatives.
“We arrived around 4 PM. The bar is small, tucked under a residential building, with a yellow sign and a weathered exterior. Despite its size—just 40–50 square meters—the place was bustling. Dark lighting, framed photos of performers, and art pieces fill the walls. Visitors chat quietly or enjoy the music alone, making it a perfect spot to soak in folk melodies. We ordered the ‘Little Tavern’ beer and cocktails, accompanied by a plate of tofu and peanuts. The prices were slightly high but reasonable. Throughout our two-hour stay, songs by Ma Di and Song Dongye played in order, each melody gentle and memorable. Even in the afternoon, the bar was lively, a haven for those who want to listen, relax, and enjoy the folk music vibe.”
