Plan at a glance
A mountain park with two main areas
Daheishan is in northwest Beipiao, Chaoyang, Liaoning, about 30 km from downtown Beipiao. Provincial tourism materials also use the name “Beipiao Daxuanshan” (北票大玄山), while recent Beipiao materials continue to use “Daheishan” (大黑山). Search maps and travel platforms for either name.
The main areas are Journey to the West Wonderland (西游仙境) and Peaks in Splendor (群峰竞秀), with their own trails and cable-car facilities. Huining Temple (惠宁寺), Swan Lake, the hot-spring resort, and the nature reserve are separate destinations nearby; navigate to each one separately and allow time for the transfer.
Who it suits and how long to allow
For an easier woodland walk, choose the Chinese Filial Piety Trail in Journey to the West Wonderland. For views from higher up, consider the cable car and glass walkway in Peaks in Splendor. The city tourism guide suggests a half-day; Trip.com suggests 4–6 hours. Choose a route based on what is open and your fitness level.
If traveling with older adults, children, or wheelchair users, check entrance access, slopes, open trail and glass-walkway sections, walkable distances, return connections, and facilities.

Journey to the West Wonderland and the Chinese Filial Piety Trail
Beipiao tourism information from 2026 describes a 4.5 km step-free trail along the Chinese Filial Piety Trail (中华孝道). The scenic area also advertises free wheelchair loans at the park entrance and the trailhead. Although the path has no steps, its gradient, accessible distance, and current conditions should be confirmed before visiting. Wheelchair availability may also vary, so contact the park in advance if you need to borrow one.
If anyone in your group has limited stamina, walk part of the trail and return the same way. Ask staff whether the surface is slippery after rain or snow and whether a shuttle connection is available. Stay on marked trails.
Peaks in Splendor, cable car, and glass walkway
The scenic area lists a cable car about 2,199 m long and a glass walkway in Peaks in Splendor. A 2026 city tourism guide describes the walkway as about 106 m long, with its highest section more than 70 m above the ground. Confirm whether it is open before traveling, especially during bad weather or maintenance.
Walking is still required in the cable-car area. Ask about the upper and lower stations, last service, glass-walkway entrance, and shuttle connection back to the parking area; use those details to decide whether to visit both areas and whether to take the cable car one way or round trip.
Build your day
Easy half-day route
At the Visitor Center, check which areas and connections are open, including the transfer distance and shuttle schedule between the two areas. Then walk the Chinese Filial Piety Trail, choose a turnaround point based on your pace, and allow time to return. If the slope or trail conditions do not suit a wheelchair user in your group, shorten the route; access on this trail does not mean the whole park is step-free.
You can visit this trail without going to the cable-car area. Use the transfer details from the Visitor Center to decide whether adding the second area fits your day.
Half-day cable-car and viewpoint route
Once the cable car and glass walkway are confirmed open, enter Peaks in Splendor and follow the on-site route. Set the visit order around the last cable-car service and leave time to get back to the parking area.
Ask about the day's shuttle before crossing to the other area. Use only trails open to visitors, and confirm the return route and last service together.
Get there
Beipiao Railway Station and driving
For navigation, search for “辽宁北票大黑山旅游景区” (Liaoning Beipiao Daheishan Scenic Area) or the Pingdingshan section of National Highway 305. You can take a taxi from Beipiao Railway Station. Liaoning Chaoyang Station and Beipiao Railway Station are different stations; check the schedules and return trip for the correct station when traveling by train.
The scenic area is about 30 km from downtown Beipiao. If you are not driving, confirm the round-trip pick-up points and vehicle availability between the station and the park in advance. Taxis and waiting options are limited in the mountain area, so arrange your return ahead of time.
Entry and parking
Follow on-site signs to the entrance and Visitor Center. Confirm parking spaces and fees when you arrive. In peak season, allow extra time for queues and the walk from the parking area.
Know before you go
Tickets, transport, and opening hours
2025 Chaoyang Travel Pass materials list CNY 90 as a reference admission price for Daheishan. A Beipiao tourism promotion in May 2026 offered round-trip cable-car tickets for CNY 100 and round-trip sightseeing-shuttle tickets for CNY 20; Trip.com lists a separate reference price of CNY 120 for a round-trip cable-car ticket. These are reference prices from different dates and sources. Confirm current prices and ticket types with the scenic area; the cable car and shuttle are charged separately. Call 0421-5150201 before traveling.
Trip.com lists hours of 08:30–16:30, with ticket sales and entry ending at 16:00. Confirm regular opening hours with the scenic area on the day of your visit. Check the last cable-car and trail times separately, and arrive early.
Names, weather, and nearby sites
Daheishan information also mentions Huiyuan Temple (惠缘寺) and Chanwu Temple (禅悟寺). Huining Temple (惠宁寺) is in Sanfu Village, Xiafu Development Zone, and is a separate A-rated scenic area; navigate there separately and check its tickets.
A winter notice from 2025 warns that temperatures can differ between the mountain and its base, with wind, snow, and weak phone signal in remote areas. Bring warm and non-slip gear for the season. Huaxi Water Steps (花溪水阶), Mist Corridor (迷雾长廊), and May Ice (五月冰) may not be visible on the day; follow closure notices.
