A museum devoted to Hongshan Culture
Hongshan Culture Museum stands at the foot of Hongshan. Its main exhibition area covers about 2,126 square metres. Text, artefacts, photographs, scale models, and multimedia displays bring Hongshan Culture to life. The museum complex also has an immersive cinema, a cultural and creative shop, an academic lecture hall, an observation platform, and temporary exhibition galleries.

Hongshan Culture in the galleries
The seven sections of the permanent exhibition focus on Hongshan Culture, using text, artefacts, photographs, archaeological scale models, and multimedia to explain discoveries and the culture's development. Visitors interested in prehistoric cultures, jade objects, and local archaeology can look for galleries such as “Treasures of Hongshan” (红山之瑰) and “Honouring Heaven and Ancestors” (敬天法祖), and read their exhibit labels.
Jade displays
The galleries feature representative Hongshan objects such as the C-shaped jade dragon and the Jade Pig Dragon. The museum has also held public education events focused on the Jade Pig Dragon. Read the exhibit labels for information about an object's form and cultural context; labels indicate whether a display is an original, a replica, or a digital presentation.
Architecture and public spaces
The museum combines contemporary design with elements of Hongshan Culture. The museum grounds cover about 2 hectares (5 acres); the main building has a floor area of about 8,422 square metres and is 17 metres high. It has a basement, a ground floor, and a partial second floor. The sloping grass roof, red weathering-steel façade, sunken plaza, and C-shaped outline are features to look for. Public areas include an observation platform, an immersive cinema, a cultural and creative shop, and temporary exhibition galleries. The observation platform is on the upper level. The sunken plaza offers a close view of the building and roof, while the platform gives a higher vantage point for seeing how the architecture relates to its surroundings.

Search for “红山文化博物馆” (Hongshan Culture Museum) in your navigation app. The museum is near the junction of Hongshan Road and Hongqi Road. On arrival, follow the current entrance signs and begin in the Prologue Hall.
Bus, taxi, and parking
You can check routes 102 and K97 for stops named “森林公园” (Senlin Gongyuan, Forest Park) or “红山公园” (Hongshan Gongyuan, Hongshan Park). After getting off, use “红山文化博物馆” to check the walking route to the museum entrance; the stop name alone does not establish how far the entrance is. A taxi from central Chifeng can go directly to the museum; travel time depends on your pickup point and traffic. If you are driving, call 0476-8231155 before setting out to confirm the parking entrance and fees. Set “红山文化博物馆” as your navigation destination.
