How to Visit
1

Make the bridge the first stop on your Aizhai route

Aizhai Bridge works best at the beginning of the Aizhai route because it is the clearest landmark in the whole scenic area. After reaching the visitor center, sort out your ticket, elevator or escalator option, and cliff-walkway choice before entering the bridge area.

Tip:This is easier than going down into the canyon first and then returning uphill.
2

See the full bridge before walking onto it

Do not rush straight onto the bridge deck. First, use the visitor-center area or viewing platforms to see the whole bridge crossing the canyon. Then walk onto the bridge or cliff walkway.

Tip:This makes the scale of the bridge and gorge much easier to understand.
3

Choose experiences by fear of heights

Standard bridge viewing is already impressive. The cliff walkway, glass sections, cloud-walk style projects, or high-altitude activities are better for visitors who are comfortable with heights.

Tip:If someone in your group is afraid of heights, stay with the regular viewing route instead of pushing everyone into the extra projects.
4

Treat weather as part of the experience

Clear days give wider views of the bridge and canyon layers. Misty weather can make the bridge appear and disappear in a way that feels very specific to Aizhai.

Tip:Heavy rain, strong wind, or thick fog can affect high-altitude projects and distant views, so leave some flexibility in the plan.
5

Separate the bridge visit from the full scenic-area route

Aizhai Bridge alone usually takes about 2-3 hours. If you also add Tianwen Platform, Jidou Miao Village, Dehang Canyon, and Liusha Waterfall, it becomes a full-day route.

Tip:Decide which version you are doing before buying tickets or arranging transport.
Highlights
  • Aizhai Bridge is one of western Hunan's most recognizable modern engineering landmarks.
  • The bridge crosses Dehang Canyon with a strong sense of height and scale.
  • The cliff walkway gives a side view of both the canyon and bridge, making the experience more immediate than distant viewing.
  • Viewing platforms are best for full bridge photos, while the bridge deck and walkway are better for feeling the height.
  • It can be combined with Tianwen Platform, Jidou Miao Village, and Dehang Canyon for a full Aizhai day route.
Insider Tips

Bridge admission, elevator or escalator access, cliff walkway tickets, and wider passes may be sold separately, so check inclusions before paying.

If you are afraid of heights, have heart discomfort, or are traveling with small children, avoid forcing high-altitude activities.

The bridge area can be windier than the city or Fenghuang Ancient Town, so bring a light layer in spring, autumn, and winter.

Do not stop too long in narrow walkway sections for photos, especially on busy holidays.

If you are making a same-day round trip from Fenghuang, leave early; bridge plus canyon can become rushed.
