How to Visit
1

Plan it as an old town plus night-view stop

Furong Town is not just an old street walk. Its value comes from the old town, waterfall, stilted houses, and night lighting together.

Tip:Arrive in the afternoon if you can, walk the town and viewpoints first, then stay for the lights and riverside night view.
2

Start high, then move toward the waterfall area

A smooth route is to enter the scenic area, pass Baishou Hall, Tuwang Bridge, and Tuwang Palace for wider views, then continue to the waterfall viewing platform and the path behind the waterfall.

Tip:Finish with food and wandering along Wuli Stone Street.
3

Confirm ticket validity and entry rules before paying

Furong Town usually requires an entry ticket, and some tickets may allow multiple entries over several days or face-scan re-entry.

Tip:Staying inside the scenic area does not automatically mean you can skip the ticket. Confirm the rules before booking a room or buying admission.
4

Choose accommodation by noise and location

Riverside or waterfall-view rooms have the best views, but they can be noisy and more expensive at night. Stay inside the scenic area if night photos are your priority.

Tip:Stay outside if you want quieter sleep, better value, or easier parking.
5

Plan your onward transport before the evening

Furong Town has a railway station, but you still need a shuttle, taxi, or shared ride between the station and the town.

Tip:After the night view, transport back to the station or onward to Fenghuang or Zhangjiajie may not be available instantly, so confirm departures or arrange a ride ahead.
Highlights
  • Furong Town is distinctive because the old town is built around the waterfall and cliffside setting.
  • Tuwang Palace, the waterfall viewing platform, the path behind the waterfall, and Wuli Stone Street form a complete route.
  • After dusk, the lights make the waterfall, stilted houses, and Youshui River feel more layered than in the daytime.
  • The film Hibiscus Town and the local rice tofu snack give the town extra cultural memory.
  • It works well as a night-view stop between Fenghuang, Zhangjiajie, and the Red Stone Forest.
Insider Tips

If you only rush through in the daytime, Furong Town loses much of its value; try to stay until the lights come on.

The waterfall is stronger in the wet season. In dry periods, lower your expectations and focus more on the old town and night view.

Stone lanes and areas near the waterfall can be wet, so wear shoes with good grip.

Restaurant quality and prices vary inside the scenic area, so check menus before choosing the most obvious location.

Furong Town and Fenghuang are both famous for night views. If time is tight, you do not need to stay overnight in both; choose based on your route.
