See the whole bridge from outside first
Hongqiao Fengyu Building is Fenghuang's most recognizable bridge-tower landmark. Look at the full structure from the riverside or opposite bank before walking onto it.
Cross it by day, then return for the lights
During the day, the bridge works as both a passage and a shop-lined covered walkway. Walk through it to see the wooden structure, corridor, and small stores.
Treat upstairs access as optional
You can see the bridge exterior and cross the bridge without making it a separate paid stop. If you want to enter exhibitions or upper viewing areas, check the day's opening and ticket rules first.
Use Hongqiao to organize your old-town walk
Hongqiao connects both sides of the Tuo River, riverside paths, Wanming Tower, East Gate Tower, and nearby lanes. You can start here and walk upstream or downstream, then return at night for photos.
✦Do not only take photos from the bridge; the riverside, opposite bank, and Wanming Tower direction often give better full-frame views.
✦Around holidays, Hongqiao gets very crowded, so arrive before peak evening photo time.
✦There are many shops on and near the bridge; compare prices before buying silver jewelry, snacks, or souvenirs.
✦If upstairs access or exhibitions require a ticket, decide whether you really need it, because the exterior and river view are the main draw.
✦On rainy days, watch your footing on the bridge area and nearby riverside steps.
