Check the paid items before buying

Yao Mountain Scenic Area itself is free; the main costs are the cable car, slide, and other paid items. When buying, check whether the ticket is for a round-trip cable car or a cable-car-up and slide-down combination.

Take the cable car up if you want to save energy

Yao Mountain is higher than the small city hills, and on clear days you can see Guilin city, karst peaks, and distant countryside.

Focus on the summit viewpoints

At the top, focus on the viewing platforms rather than trying every small paid item. If it is rainy or heavily foggy, visibility will be poor.

Choose cable car or slide for the descent

For the descent, choose the cable car or the slide. The slide is more fun, but it is not suitable for very young children, visitors with limited mobility, or anyone who dislikes light-thrill rides.

Use taxi or self-drive if possible

From central Guilin, taxi or self-drive is easier. If you use public transport, you still need to walk from the nearest stop.
