Location and visit scope

Guanghui Bridge is in Nanxun Ancient Town's main pedestrian area, connecting public streets near the Nanshi and Dongshi rivers. It is a stone bridge that can be passed as part of a walking route. Allow about 30–60 minutes to combine the bridge, waterways and nearby lanes while observing how the town is organised.

Guanghui Bridge is a public pedestrian area with no separate indoor exhibition hall or unified ticket checkpoint. Docks, boats, evening activities and other attractions nearby operate independently; walking onto the bridge does not grant access to any of them.

Opening and crowds

The bridge can generally be walked during the town's open public hours, but its narrow surface is affected by crowds and boat traffic during holidays. Whether there are lights, performances or other evening arrangements may change, so do not reserve the whole night for one activity without a replacement route.

Choose your visit

Bridge views and the water-town layout

From Guanghui Bridge, you can observe the meeting of waterways, riverside buildings and passing boats. It suits visitors interested in bridges, canal networks and old-town walking. The bridge is also a traffic route, so stand where you do not obstruct pedestrians and keep the stop short rather than occupying the centre.

The main experience comes from the public waterfront and surrounding buildings, not from one season's flowers, one performance or a particular lighting setup. Weather, crowds and water traffic may change, but the bridge and waterway can still be visited.

Who this suits

Guanghui Bridge suits families, older adults and short old-town walks, but the steps and slope require care with slower-moving companions. Photographers can use it as a transition between the southern and northern districts rather than waiting for one particular scene for a long time.

If you do not want to use the bridge steps, observe its exterior from the nearby public riverbank. Visitors who want a boat should choose a dock and boat type separately; the bridge itself does not provide water transport.

Build your day

About 30 minutes: south to the bridge

After leaving the paid attractions in the south, follow the public walking route to Guanghui Bridge, look over the waterways and riverside homes from the bridge, then continue toward Baijianlou or other northern lanes. The short route is about the bridge's position and relationship with the water, not repeated backtracking across the bridge.

When the bridge is crowded, wait at the bridgehead for the flow to ease, then cross in the direction of pedestrian movement. Leave the steps and passage clear when taking photographs, and do not split the group between the two ends.

About 1 hour: bridge and waterfront

Start at Xiaolianzhuang or Jiaye Library, walk through the public streets to Guanghui Bridge, then continue to Baijianlou or another route based on the day's plan. If you want a view from the water, first confirm that a nearby dock has the relevant departure; the bridge walk should remain the backup route.

This route treats Guanghui Bridge as the transition between Nanxun's southern and northern districts. Bridge, dock and nearby residence tickets and opening hours are independent, so place them according to each one's time limits.

Evening and night

In the evening, observe the change in light from the bridgehead or public riverbank. Decide about lights, performances and an evening boat according to that day's arrangements. If an activity changes, walk along the riverbank and through Baijianlou instead of waiting for the last boat.

Visibility on the bridge worsens after dark, and rain or heavy crowds are reasons to shorten the stop. Before leaving, confirm which gate you will use to return so you do not search for the route while carrying luggage through narrow bridge lanes.

Get there

Walking from a town entrance

From the South or North Gate, follow the ancient town's public walking routes to Guanghui Bridge. The distance depends on your starting point and the riverbank you choose. For driving, use an official parking area near the South, East or North Gate, then enter on foot.

From Huzhou Nanxun Station, a taxi to the South Gate usually takes about 15–20 minutes, followed by a walk. The bridge is inside the pedestrian area, so it is not suitable to navigate a vehicle directly to the bridgehead.

Bridge and water activities

There may be several docks near Guanghui Bridge, but dock names, directions and departures are not the same as the bridge entrance. Before choosing a water activity, confirm where to board and where you will get off, then decide whether to continue on foot.

Know before you go

Bridge safety

The bridge is narrow, with stone surfaces and a slope. Wear shoes with good grip and slow down on the steps. After rain, at night or when boats are passing, do not stand at the edge, cross the railings or lean over the water for a photograph.

The bridge is a public route, so leave one side clear for other pedestrians when taking photographs. Hold children's hands, and remember that strollers and large luggage may be difficult to move across the bridge.

Activities and seasonal arrangements

Wisteria, lights, Kunqu opera, water performances and evening boats can all change with the season, operations and event schedule. Guanghui Bridge itself can be visited independently, so a change to an activity does not prevent you from seeing the bridge and waterways.

If you plan to take a boat, confirm the dock, boat type, capacity, price and last departure separately. The boat ticket covers the water trip, not the residences or other attractions near Guanghui Bridge.

Crowds and breaks

Bridgeheads, docks and nearby lanes may all be crowded during holidays, and early or late hours are not always quiet. When you need a break, leave the bridge and choose a public riverbank or lane that does not block movement.
