Location and entrances

Lianhuazhuang Park is at No. 108 Lianhuazhuang Road, Wuxing District, Huzhou, near the Huzhou Hubi Museum. You can enter through the main gate or the east gate of Qianyuan. It is an open urban garden suited to about 1.5–3 hours of walking.

The park is free, while the gardens, nearby museum and other exhibition venues are managed separately. Free entry to Lianhuazhuang does not include the Huzhou Hubi Museum, temporary exhibitions or the tickets and opening hours of nearby attractions.

Opening and walking pace

The park's daytime and evening hours change with the season, usually running later in summer and earlier in winter. Leave room for walking and the return after dark. Water, rockeries, pavilions and curved bridges are spread through the grounds, so the difference between a quick walk and a slow visit is significant.

About 1.5 hours is enough for a main garden route. If you want to take your time with Songxue Studio, Oubo Pavilion, Tishan Tower, Lianhua Peak and the water views, allow 2–3 hours. There is no need to rush to reach every corner.

Choose your visit

Gardens, water and spaces associated with Zhao Mengfu

The main sights include lotus ponds, the Nine-Turn Bridge, Taihu stones, pavilions, covered corridors and waterside buildings. Songxue Studio, Oubo Pavilion, Tishan Tower and Lianhua Peak suit visitors interested in classical gardens, calligraphy and Wuxing's local culture.

The garden is best viewed slowly along the water and paths. Weather and season affect lotus flowers, trees and reflections. Even outside the flowering season, the relationships among rockeries, bridges, corridors, pavilions and buildings can support a complete short visit.

Who this suits

Lianhuazhuang suits visitors who enjoy historic buildings and gardens, short urban walks, and families travelling with children or older adults. The walking is generally easier than in a mountain attraction, but waterside areas, rockeries and small bridges still require care with slower-moving companions.

If you want to learn about Hubi brush-making, treat the Huzhou Hubi Museum as a separate stop. Its opening and reservation rules are not determined by Lianhuazhuang Park, so decide separately whether to enter.

Build your day

About 1.5 hours: main gate to east gate

Enter through the main gate, follow the inscription corridor, lotus pond and Nine-Turn Bridge, then continue through waterside spaces such as Songxue Studio and Oubo Pavilion before leaving toward Qianyuan's east gate. This short route suits visitors who mainly want the garden structure; keep a few meaningful stops rather than trying to stop everywhere.

Bridges and waterside paths may be slippery after rain. Follow the on-site direction around standing water. With children, finish the wider main paths first, then decide whether to enter narrower curved bridges and rockery areas.

About 2–3 hours: detailed garden route

Enter through Qianyuan's east gate or the main gate, start with Taihu stones and rockeries, then follow the water system past Tishan Tower, Shuang Pavilion, Crystal Palace, Yinshan Water House, Songxue Studio, Oubo Pavilion and the Nine-Turn Bridge before returning toward the exit. Actual open buildings and exhibition rooms follow that day's route, while the public garden paths remain independently walkable.

This route suits first-time visitors who want to experience the garden's full sequence. The stops are linked mainly on foot. Rest in a pavilion or public area without blocking movement rather than walking continuously.

Half-day old-city combination

With half a day, start at Lianhuazhuang, then enter the Huzhou Hubi Museum if its schedule fits, before walking or taking a car to Chaoyin Bridge, Yishang Street or Xiaoxi Street. Tickets, closing days and business hours differ, so place venues with clear time limits first.

If your companions only want a walk, Lianhuazhuang Park itself is enough for one part of an old-city itinerary. Decide after leaving whether to continue; there is no need to hurry to another attraction just to complete a fixed route.

Get there

From Huzhou Station and bus stops

From Huzhou Station, a taxi to Lianhuazhuang Park takes about 15 minutes. In the city, you can also take a bus toward Lianhuazhuang and walk to the main gate. Confirm whether you want the main gate or Qianyuan's east gate, as the two entrances suit different walking directions.

For driving, look for an official parking area near the park's south or north gate. Free spaces may be tight on holidays, and walking in after parking is more practical than repeatedly searching at the entrance.

Moving around the park and nearby areas

The park is suitable for walking, with changes in level between paths, curved bridges and waterside areas. The Huzhou Hubi Museum is next to Lianhuazhuang, but entry, exhibitions and cultural-product sales follow the museum's own arrangements.

You can walk, cycle or take a car to Yishang Street, Xiaoxi Street or Feiying Park. Choose the method based on your companions' energy and the day's road conditions rather than compressing all nearby distances into one fixed walking loop.

Know before you go

Flower seasons, insects and sun

Lotus, wisteria and other plants change visibly with the season, so leave extra flexibility if flowers are the main reason for the visit. The grounds have plenty of water and trees, so mosquitoes may be present in warm weather. Reflections from the water can also be strong in sun; bring insect repellent and sun protection.

Stone, wooden bridges and mossy areas become slippery after rain. Wear flat shoes with good grip, slow down near the water and do not run on wet steps.

Keep the park and venues separate

Lianhuazhuang Park is free, while the Huzhou Hubi Museum, exhibitions related to Zhao Mengfu and other nearby venues may have separate tickets, closing days or reservation requirements. The park being open does not mean the neighbouring halls are open.

If a venue closes temporarily, you can still complete a visit along the park's water system and garden paths. Treat the venue as an additional stop so a change does not disrupt the whole half-day route.

Breaks and photography

The park suits a slow walk, and pavilions and waterside areas can be used for short breaks. Do not block bridges, narrow paths or other visitors' photography positions. With children or older adults, confirm the route back to the exit before entering a more distant garden path.

Garden light changes with the weather and time of day, so focus on the relationship between buildings, bridges, corridors and water. There is no need to wait for one flower scene or one angle for a long time; the old-city itinerary can still be adjusted.
