Taoyangli Historical and Cultural District is at 187 Zhushan Middle Road in Zhushan District, Jingdezhen. It brings together old lanes, historic kilns, creative spaces, and the Imperial Kiln Museum. A 1.5–2-hour visit covers the main stops; allow 3–5 hours if you also want Xujia Kiln (徐家窑), the 1949 Creative Park, and a longer walk through the old lanes.
The East Gate has a visitor service centre and an underground car park, making it the practical starting point for drivers or anyone who wants a map. The South Gate is near Fuzhou Lane food street and works well as the end of a walking route or a taxi drop-off. Tell your driver which gate you need.
Tickets, reservations, and indoor hours
An adult Taoyangli ticket is listed at CNY 53, and the current ticket uses a three-day validity rule. Visitors using a mainland Chinese ID card may re-enter under the applicable rules; foreign visitors using passports or other documents should confirm how repeat entry is verified when buying the ticket. The Imperial Kiln Museum is free indoors but sits inside the paid Taoyangli complex, so buy the Taoyangli admission first and then make a real-name reservation through the Changyou Jingdezhen platform. A free museum reservation does not waive the complex admission.
Taoyangli currently opens from 08:30 to 22:00, with last entry at 21:30. The Imperial Kiln Museum currently also has evening opening arrangements from 09:00 to 22:00, with last admission at 21:30. Check the same-day reservation page and museum notice for indoor evening access rather than assuming the museum closes in late afternoon.

Historic kilns, old lanes, and city views
Xujia Kiln is a useful stop for seeing traditional ceramic production in context. Whether a kiln is firing or artisans are throwing and painting ceramics depends on the day's arrangements. Longzhu Ge (龙珠阁) gives a higher view over the old city, while Pengjia Shangnong (彭家上弄), Bijia Shangnong (毕家上弄), and nearby lanes retain brick paving, the old lane layout, and everyday residential spaces.
The 1949 Creative Park, Yanghua Nong (杨华弄), and Huanglaoda Yao (黄老大窑) extend the visit from historic kilns and old buildings into newer creative spaces. If you want to see the Imperial Kiln Museum's indoor displays, check the day's reservable entry slot first, then place the old lanes, Longzhu Ge, and night views before or after it.
Who this suits
Photographers can treat the reflecting pool, Longzhu Ge, the entrance to Huanglaoda Yao, and the old lanes' stone paving as different kinds of subjects. Rain makes the paving slippery, and summer heat makes a long outdoor shoot more tiring. For an urban walk, enter through the East Gate and move south through the old lanes and creative spaces.
Visitors interested in ceramic history and craft can combine Xujia Kiln, the Imperial Kiln Museum, and the surviving kiln sites into one city-culture route. Tickets, entrances, displays, and reservations are handled separately for each place.

1.5–2-hour quick route
Enter through the East Gate and go to the Imperial Kiln Museum during your reserved slot, then continue to Longzhu Ge and leave through the South Gate via Pengjia Shangnong. If your reservation slot has passed or there is no indoor entry available, use the museum's exterior buildings as a stop and spend the remaining time at Longzhu Ge and the old lanes.
This route centres on the Imperial Kiln Museum, Longzhu Ge, and the South Gate, with Fuzhou Lane as an easy next stop. The South Gate has no car park, so walk to the food street or arrange a separate ride after leaving.
3–5-hour highlights route
Enter through the East Gate, start at Xujia Kiln, then continue through the 1949 Creative Park and Yanghua Nong before visiting the Imperial Kiln Museum at your reserved time. After the museum, go to Longzhu Ge and move south past Huanglaoda Yao, Bijia Shangnong, and the other old lanes. Most of the route is on foot, and stone paving, brick paths, and photo stops can extend the visit.
If you need to return to a car at the East Gate, arrange the parking and return connection before setting out. After finishing at the South Gate, you can eat in Fuzhou Lane and return by taxi or bus; the South Gate does not provide access to the East Gate car park.
Get there
From the station and the city
A taxi from Jingdezhen North Railway Station to Taoyangli takes about 20 minutes. In the city, check buses serving the Taoyangli area, including routes such as 1, 2, and 3. Jingdezhen has no metro; a shared e-bike can cover a short urban approach, but you will still walk between the old lanes and historic kilns inside the district.
For navigation, use a precise destination such as “Taoyangli East Gate Visitor Service Centre” or “Taoyangli South Gate.” The East Gate is better for enquiries, maps, and parking; the South Gate works well for finishing the walking route or taking a taxi from the Fuzhou Lane side.
Driving and parking
The East Gate underground car park and “Taoyangli No. 8 Car Park” are the main parking targets, but spaces may be tight during holidays. If the East Gate area is full, ask about parking at the Sculpture Porcelain Factory or the west side of the Sports Centre, then continue by public transport or ride-hailing. Availability and charges at alternative parking areas must be confirmed on the day.
Know before you go
Walking, weather, and crowds
Much of the district has stone paving or uneven brick paths, which become slippery in rain. Wear flat shoes with good grip. Outdoor areas can feel hot and humid in summer, so bring water and sun protection; popular photo spots may have queues, and staff may control where or how long visitors can stop.
Food, shopping, and the return trip
Fuzhou Lane food street begins outside the South Gate. Youtiao Bao Maci (油条包麻糍), fried dough wrapped with sticky rice cake, Niugu Fen (牛骨粉), Shaobing (烧饼), and Jiaozi Ba (饺子粑) are local options, but check which shops are open that day. Creative goods and ceramics inside the district may cost more than similar items in nearby old-lane shops, so compare the price and workmanship before buying. After leaving through the South Gate, arrange parking pickup or transport to your next stop separately.
