Choose your visit

Enter the venue where the May Day Conference was held

The site was originally the auditorium of the Xing’an Military Officers’ School, built in 1935. From April 23 to 30, 1947, 392 delegates met here for the Inner Mongolia People’s Representative Conference.

On May 1, the meeting declared the establishment of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Government. The foyer, main hall and reconstructed meeting-room furnishings show how the conference space was arranged.

Start with the foyer, then see the main hall

The foyer displays portraits of members of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Government, a stone inscription introducing the founding conference, telegrams from the conference to Mao Zedong and Zhu De, and congratulatory telegrams from the two leaders. The large historical painting Dawn of May (《五月的曙光》) is on the foyer’s east wall. The main hall retains reconstructed rows of long tables and stools, the platform, the speaker’s table and a ballot box. Look for historical documents and household and office items in the display cases as well. On-site displays may change.

Build your day

A focused visit of about 30 minutes

Enter the foyer through the west-facing main entrance. First see Dawn of May, then read the conference introduction and related panels. Continue into the main hall to view the delegates’ seats, platform, speaker’s table and ballot box, then leave by the same route. Allow about 30 minutes for this short visit.

A closer look over 1–1.5 hours

Allow 1–1.5 hours to follow the exhibition timeline through the conference preparations, the meeting and the establishment of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Government, then look more closely at the reconstructed scenes, historical photographs and documents.

If you also plan to visit the Inner Mongolia National Liberation Memorial Hall, confirm each venue’s address, opening hours and entry rules separately, then plan your transfer and visit order.

Interactive displays or in-person talks may be scheduled; follow the day’s notice. Restaurants and cafés across the way are separate businesses. Arrange a break there separately; they are not part of the site’s visitor route.
