After entering from Mizhi County Town, use the entrance information to understand the layout and exhibitions, then follow the courtyards from lower to higher ground.
Tip:Allow at least around 90 minutes; visitors interested in late-Ming history and historic architecture should allow more time.

Follow the historical sequence
Visit the Opera Tower, Plum Blossom Pavilion, Pengsheng Tower, Qixiang Hall, and Zhaoqing Palace in sequence.
Tip:Understanding Li Zicheng's connection with Mizhi first makes the architecture and exhibitions easier to follow.

Pace the uphill sections
The complex climbs the hillside, so watch the steps and gradients as you move upward. Visitors with limited stamina can focus on the main halls and exhibitions rather than trying to cover every elevated section.
Tip:Take short pauses on the steeper sections instead of rushing the route.

Finish with the higher outlook
If the accessible route permits, look back from higher ground toward Mizhi County Town and the old-city area. Then descend by the signed route and leave time for food, onward transport, or departure from the county town.
Tip:The return descent needs as much care as the uphill walk.
