The value here is not a self-contained showpiece, but a puzzle piece inside the French quarter. If you separate it from the consulate and cathedral, it can feel thin; if you keep it in the same street sequence, the heritage logic becomes much clearer.

The simplest way to get here is the same one you would use for the French quarter: taxi or shared e-bike, because Xiashan's older roads are narrow and parking takes time. Buses around Seaside Park Station or Xiashan Public Security Bureau Station also work, after which you continue on foot.
Leave the car outside the core
This area is for walking, not parking efficiency, so it is better to leave the car on the edge and walk in. If you are only passing through, roadside parking may be enough, but anyone trying to see the whole district is better off on foot.

Keep expectations realistic
What is stable here is the district itself, not a separately managed, highly formal "police station site" with its own separate visitor rhythm. It is more useful to combine it with the consulate, cathedral and bank than to expect a full stand-alone venue.
Combine it with the rest of the route
If you are already in this area, keep Seaside Park and dinner nearby in the same plan. Food and parking should still follow the logic of old Xiashan: do not spend half the afternoon circling core streets looking for a place to stop.
