Do not climb on the well, tree roots or old stone surfaces. Keep the lane clear and treat the village as residents' daily space rather than a closed photography set.
One day: start an island circuit here
Begin at Songhuang Well, then cycle to Naozhou Lighthouse, Turtle City and Nayan rocky shore before Cunliang Bay sunset. This puts the village stop early and preserves the later day for coast and evening light.
On a two-day route, it can instead follow shore activity before a morning-market and pier return. In either case, it remains a concise stop rather than a reason to extend the route indefinitely.

When the ferry is early, choose nearby sights after the well rather than overextending around the island. A reliable return to the pier is more useful than one extra remote shoreline.

Ferry and village access
Go first to Dongnan Pier Passenger Terminal, park for CNY 15–20 per day and take the CNY 16–25 passenger ferry. Leaving the car at the pier and renting an e-bike usually works better than taking a vehicle across for this route.
Songhuang Well is about 10 minutes by e-bike from the island pier. Set navigation directly to Songhuang Well, then walk from the village entrance along the shaded lane.
Village roads and parking
Island e-bikes cost CNY 20–30 per day; check the charge before departure. Village roads are narrow, so drivers should take care when meeting another vehicle and should not force a car deep into the lanes.
There is free parking near the well, but do not park at bends. Respecting the village road keeps traffic moving and avoids unnecessary disputes or management charges.

Expectations and local etiquette
Songhuang Well is small, so allow roughly 10 minutes and combine it with other island stops. It does not provide the facilities, exhibitions or commercial services of a large heritage site.
Keep voices low, do not enter private yards, and do not occupy the well or lane for extended photo sessions. It works best as a quiet, respectful village pause.
Mosquitoes, tide and return
Bring repellent for the tree-lined village and sun protection for any later coast. If continuing to shore activity, follow low-tide timing and use non-slip shoes rather than entering flats as the tide rises.
The final island ferry is usually at 18:00, so begin returning toward the pier around 15:00. Keeping this short stop in the first half of the day protects the boat schedule.
