Xianshi Ancient Town

Treat it as a salt-route old town

Xianshi sits by the Fuxi River and grew around old salt transport. Visit for slow walking, lanes, river context, and local food rather than a ticketed monument route.

Arrive by taxi or a direct bus if timing works

Public buses can be cheap but require matching the right departure. If your time is limited, a taxi or self-drive route avoids waiting.

Walk the riverside and old lanes together

Start near the visitor area, move through the old streets, then include the riverside so the town's salt-transport role makes sense.

Keep it as a half-day add-on

Xianshi works well before an evening lantern visit or after a museum morning. It is not strong enough for a full dedicated day for most overseas travelers.
