Location and time needed
Ejina Museum is a nationally classified Grade III museum on Juyan Street in Dalaihubu Town (达来呼布镇), opposite the Ejina Banner Public Security Bureau. Its main collection highlights are the Juyan Han slips (ancient wooden and bamboo documents) and Western Xia documents unearthed at Black Water City. The museum also has exhibits on local landscapes, Torghut history, and intangible cultural heritage.
Allow about one hour for a focused visit, or 1.5–2 hours for a more unhurried look at the history and culture exhibits. Exhibit availability and the order of your visit may vary; follow the guide map on the day. The museum is in town, so it fits easily into a Dalaihubu Town stop.
Tickets and opening hours
Admission is free, and no reservation is required. The listed schedule is Tuesday–Sunday, 09:00–12:00 and 15:00–17:00; the museum is closed all day on Monday. It closes for three hours at midday, so the morning and afternoon are separate visiting sessions. Seasonal hours may vary; confirm the current schedule before setting out.

Han-era Juyan
Exhibits on Han-era Juyan focus on the Juyan Han slips—wooden and bamboo documents that offer glimpses of daily life on China's ancient frontier.
Black Water City and the Western Xia
Western Xia history and documents unearthed at Black Water City are major themes here. The exhibits explain the history of Black Water City, while the actual ruins are a separate destination. If you plan to visit both, check their locations, transport, and visiting arrangements separately.
Nature and local culture
Other themes include local landscapes, Torghut history, ethnic culture, aerospace, and national defense. There is also a temporary exhibition gallery. The current guide map shows which galleries and temporary exhibitions are open and what they are called.
The museum suits visitors interested in history, archaeology, or local culture in Ejina. Families can use the Juyan Han slips, Western Xia documents, and the Torghut people's historic eastward return (东归) as starting points for learning about the area. If time is limited, focus on a few galleries.
For the separate archaeological site discussed here, see the actual Khara-Khoto Ruins.
Build your day
A one-hour highlights visit
Focus on exhibits about Han-era Juyan, Western Xia history, and local culture, and allow about an hour. Gallery locations and opening arrangements may change, so choose your order from the guide map at the entrance.
A 1.5–2-hour history and culture visit
If they are open, add galleries on local landscapes, ethnic culture, or the temporary exhibition. Allow 1.5–2 hours for a more unhurried visit; this is a planning estimate, not a promise that every gallery will be open. If you want to plan by floor, use the current floor plan; routes may change, and this is not a fixed tour of the whole museum.

Gallery conditions
The climate in Ejina is dry, so carry water when you go out. Some areas of the museum are dimly lit, which can make details in large displays such as models harder to see. If you are sensitive to renovation odors, find out which areas are open before your visit.
If an interactive activity is running that day, families can join according to the on-site arrangements. Treat it as an optional extra, as activities may not run every day.
The museum closes at midday. You can use the break to eat in Dalaihubu Town, where local dishes include hand-grabbed mutton (手抓羊肉), camel meat, and stir-fried sand onions with eggs (沙葱炒蛋).
