How to Visit

Give it a long half day
Gupo Mountain works best as a long half-day visit. The adult ticket is CNY 66, and the sightseeing bus is CNY 15. The area is large, so first-time visitors should buy the bus ticket too.
Tip:Walking everything from the entrance uses too much energy before the best sections.

Use the sightseeing bus for the main route
After entering, take the sightseeing bus toward Xiangu Waterfall, then choose Xiangu Lawn, Fangjia Tea Garden, the wine workshop, and Guyaochong based on your energy.
Tip:This saves a lot of walking compared with starting from the entrance on foot.

Add Jiutian Waterfall only if you want more walking
If you want a more natural waterfall route, continue from the Xiangu Lawn area toward Jiutian Waterfall. The walk is noticeably longer.
Tip:Older visitors, children, or travelers short on time do not need to force it.

Be careful around the macaques
Around Guyaochong and Benma Waterfall, there are many macaques. Do not hold snacks or drinks openly, and do not feed them.
Tip:Keep plastic bags and snack packs inside your bag.

Treat the summit as a separate hiking goal
Climbing to Gupo Peak is a different kind of visit and takes much more time and energy. For most visitors, the waterfalls, tea garden, lawn, and macaque area already make a complete route.
Tip:Do not add the summit unless you have enough time, fitness, and current access information.
Highlights
- Gupo Mountain is mainly about forest, streams, waterfalls, and cool air, useful for a Hezhou nature or family trip.
- Xiangu Waterfall is the easiest waterfall to reach and the simplest to include in a normal route.
- Jiutian Waterfall is more of a walking route, better for travelers who want to go deeper and avoid tour-group pacing.
- Fangjia Tea Garden and the wine workshop are good for a short photo stop, but do not need much shopping time.
- Guyaochong, the macaques, and Benma Waterfall add variety, especially for children.
Insider Tips
✦Do not skip the sightseeing bus to save a small amount of money. The distances are long, and walking too much can drain energy before the best waterfall sections.
✦Wear shoes with grip even in summer. Stream edges, waterfall areas, and post-rain boardwalks can be wet.
✦Macaques really do grab food, so keep plastic bags and snack packs inside your bag.
✦If you meet tea sales at Fangjia Tea Garden, buy only if you genuinely want to. It is fine to leave.
✦If you also plan Jade Stone Forest or Shibashui the same day, do not overfill Gupo Mountain or the afternoon will become tiring.
