Plan at a glance
A separately ticketed live show
Eternal Horse Ode (千古马颂, Qiangu Masong) is a large-scale Mongolian horse-culture performance with separately ticketed shows. It is not a regular attraction inside Chilechuan Grassland (敕勒川草原). Performances take place at the Inner Mongolia Ethnic Minority Cultural and Sports Center (内蒙古少数民族群众文化体育运动中心), south of Yematu Village (野马图村) in Hohhot’s Xincheng District (新城区). Navigate to the venue itself rather than searching only for the grassland.
The performance
The story follows a herder’s son and a horse growing up together, with Mongolian equestrian skills, acrobatics on horseback, dancing horses, song, dance, and music. Cast movement and stage scenes can change with the production; promotional photos or an interaction in one performance do not guarantee the same content at every show.
Season and time needed
The 2026 season ran from May 1 to October 7. As of October 20, 2026, that season has ended; the next season’s dates have not been confirmed. Do not plan around year-round availability or a regular evening show. The performance itself lasts about 75 minutes; also allow time for ticket collection, security, and finding your seat.

Choose your visit
Afternoon or evening show
The 2026 schedule included 3 p.m. afternoon and 8 p.m. evening performances, with actual dates announced individually. Before booking a future season, check the date, start time, and remaining seats for that day. An event page still being online does not mean there is a show that day.
Choosing seats and sightlines
Choose a seat from the official seating plan, taking stage layout, viewing angle, and possible partial obstructions into account. Cast movement and stage setup may vary between performances; ticket price or left- and right-side seating does not guarantee a particular view.
Who will enjoy it
The show suits visitors interested in equestrian skills, Mongolian song and dance, and grassland culture. The seated performance lasts about 75 minutes. When bringing children, check the current age, height, and separate-seat rules before buying tickets. Check the ticket information first if you are considering bringing an infant.
The venue and horse interactions
The main experience is a seated live performance. If close-up horse viewing, photos, or another activity is offered after a show, follow staff directions and pay any on-site fee. Post-show activities are not guaranteed ticket benefits; do not bring feed for the horses.
Build your day
Go to the show on its own
First confirm the performance date and time, then navigate to the sports center’s ticket entrance. Arrive early enough to exchange tickets, pass security, and find your seat as instructed. After the show, leave the venue and take your prearranged ride back to the city or your accommodation.
Combine it with Chilechuan Grassland
Combine the two only after the performance date is confirmed. Visit the grassland during the day and plan your departure around that day’s entry arrangements and last shuttle, leaving a buffer for the drive to the venue and security. If you cannot arrive on time, split the visits across two days; do not estimate the show time from sunset or the end of the grassland’s evening scenery.
Return after an evening performance
If a future schedule includes an 8 p.m. performance, it should end at about 9:15 p.m., based on its 75-minute running time, plus time to exit. Arrange a ride-hail car, chartered car, or your own vehicle in advance. Do not rely on the grassland shuttle or an unconfirmed last bus.
Get there
Navigate to the specific venue
Use “Inner Mongolia Ethnic Minority Cultural and Sports Center” or “Yematu Village (野马图村), Xincheng District, Hohhot,” then confirm the ticket’s listed entrance. The venue covers a large area, so confirm the vehicle drop-off point, parking entrance, and walking route into the building in advance.
Travel from the city and leave after the show
Allow for the suburban drive, holiday traffic, and venue security. If taking a taxi after the show, confirm that the pickup location can be found by the driver. If driving, check when the parking lot closes; the end of the performance does not mean transport services end at the same time.
Know before you go
Show dates and tickets
Published prices for the 2026 season were RMB 280, 380, 480, and 680; future prices depend on the next season’s notice. Buy only through a channel named by the theater or show organizer, and verify the date, seat, and ticket collection method. Avoid tickets from unknown resellers.
Entry requirements
Recent ticketing instructions call for a valid paper performance ticket; electronic tickets must be exchanged at the designated counter or self-service machine. For a future season, confirm the accepted ticket format and how early to arrive in its notice. Visitors with children, older adults, or reduced mobility should check current entry requirements and contact the venue about assistance.
Show etiquette and on-site arrangements
Follow venue rules for late entry, photography and video, food, and security screening. Stay seated during the performance, do not use flash, and do not distract the performers or horses. If the show or venue arrangements change, follow the organizer’s notice for that day.
