Jingdezhen Sculpture Porcelain Factory is at 139 Xinchang East Road. The public factory area usually requires no ticket or reservation and can be walked freely during the day. Its sights are split between the main road and side lanes: the main road is more likely to have concentrated markets and old factory buildings, while the side lanes hold small galleries, studios, cafés, and craft activities. The public factory area is easy to walk during the day; if you plan to enter public areas at night, follow on-site management that day. Most shops and studios close gradually around 17:30–18:00, so daytime is better for browsing and buying ceramics. Whether a weekend market is running and whether a workshop has space are both shop-level, same-day matters.
What the South and North Gates are for
The South Gate is the archway on the main road. From there, you can start at Letao Hui and Mingqingyuan (明清园), where a market may be running. The North Gate is closer to parking and the main food area, so drivers can begin there and walk south. Both are open-style entrances; choose according to your parking position and route.
There is no single scenic-area ticket or reservation process. If you join a throwing or glass-blowing activity, the studio sets its own price, reservation, finished-work delivery, and opening arrangements. Ask each studio after arrival.

Main-road markets and side-lane shops
If a market is running at Mingqingyuan (明清园) or Su Kongjian (塑空间) at the weekend, the main road is a quick place to browse work by student and young ceramic artists. Even on weekdays, it shows the old factory area's everyday movement. Market dates and stalls change, so the on-site opening is more reliable than assuming a fixed weekend programme.
In the side lanes, look for shops such as Meiyansuo (每盐所), Yuanlai Shi Ni (原来是泥), and Zaiye Shop (在野商店). Meiyansuo leans towards displays and objects, Yuanlai Shi Ni combines coffee with window views, and Bushuijiao Nienie Park (不睡觉捏捏公园) is a place for graffiti walls. Opening hours are set day by day; the value of the side lanes is in finding places one by one, not following a fixed exhibition route.
Who this suits
Object lovers can combine the main-road market with side-lane studios to compare daily ceramics, original work, and hands-on activities. Photographers can look for different scenes at Bushuijiao Nienie Park, the upstairs window at Meiyansuo, and the red-brick graffiti lane beside Qingmo Shanfang.
Visitors interested in making can ask ceramic-throwing or glass-blowing studios about same-day spaces and prices. An activity usually changes the walking pace. Slanting light between 15:00 and 17:00 suits the lanes, but studio visits should still be completed before closing.

1.5–2-hour South Gate quick route
Enter through the South Gate, browse Letao Hui and the Mingqingyuan area, then walk north along the main road through the old factory buildings and public paths. When time is short, focus on the main-road market and factory spaces rather than adding a studio activity or comparing every shop.
At the North Gate, pause in the food area or a café and leave by taxi. If you parked at the South Gate, walk back according to the parking location or arrange a separate ride. Finishing shop visits around 17:00 is safer.
3–4-hour North-to-South highlights route
Enter through the North Gate and walk south along the main road to see the market and everyday factory spaces. Turn into the side lanes for Meiyansuo, Yuanlai Shi Ni, and Zaiye Shop, choose one hands-on activity that is open that day if you wish, and finish at the South Gate. Allow separate time at each shop for questions, viewing, and rest.
This route suits a first visit and connects easily with other city transport from the South Gate. It keeps the concentrated stalls on the main road separate from the studios in the side lanes. If a studio closes early, use the second half for lane photography and a café stop.
Get there
From the city and on foot
A taxi or shared e-bike from central Jingdezhen to 139 Xinchang East Road is convenient, and the factory area itself is explored on foot. Tell the driver “Sculpture Porcelain Factory South Gate” or “Sculpture Porcelain Factory North Gate”: the South Gate corresponds to the main-road market, while the North Gate is closer to parking and food.
There is no metro transfer to arrange; once you reach the gate, you can start walking. If you plan to continue to Taoxichuan or Taoyang Xincun (陶阳新村), arrange a taxi around the day's traffic and shop closing times. The two factory areas require a transport connection.
Driving and parking
There is parking near the North Gate, but spaces are limited. Jingyao Community (景瑶小区) or Changhe Community may offer nearby walkable alternatives; check the signs for whether parking is allowed, charges, and available spaces. The South Gate mainly serves as a walking entrance, so confirm the North Gate side before parking.
Know before you go
Closing times, buying, and activities
Many shops and studios start closing around 17:30–18:00, so a late arrival may leave only the public factory area and quiet main road. Check glaze, cracks, and other flaws in natural light when buying handmade objects. Comparing prices and bargaining are optional, not required steps.
Throwing, glass blowing, and other craft activities take time. Ask about the price, reservation, process, and collection or delivery of finished work before joining. Markets, studios, and exhibitions change with the date, so the actual vendors, classes, and available spaces follow the day's arrangements.
Coffee, food, and evening plans
There are more food options outside the North Gate, while Yuanlai Shi Ni and Shijie are possible coffee stops inside the area. Confirm opening hours before setting out. Taoyang Xincun works better as a separate evening stop; the main Sculpture Porcelain Factory visit belongs in the daytime, while the night market and Taoxichuan night views are separate locations.
