How to Visit
1

Place Huaguang Tower on your riverside route

Huaguang Tower sits on the southeastern side of the old city, close to the Jialing River and the cruise pier.

Tip:It works best with a riverside walk, a Jialing River cruise, or the Nanjinguan direction, rather than as an isolated stop.
2

Climb it for river views and the edge of the old city

Huaguang Tower’s view is more about the Jialing River, old-town rooftops, and the riverside streets.

Tip:From above, you can see how the old city meets the river, which feels different from the more central viewpoint at Zhongtian Tower.
3

Come in late afternoon if you can

Late afternoon light is better for the wooden windows, stair framing, and river surface.

Tip:After visiting the tower, you can continue naturally to the riverbank, a night cruise, or the night views around Nanjinguan.
4

Do not treat Huaguang Tower and Zhongtian Tower as identical

If time is short, choose Huaguang Tower for river scenery and Zhongtian Tower for the central street grid.

Tip:If you have enough time for both, visit them at different times of day so the experience does not feel repetitive.
Highlights
  • One of the most recognizable towers in Langzhong Ancient City, close to the Jialing River.
  • The upper levels give views of old-town rooftops, riverside streets, and the river itself.
  • The arched passage below the tower makes it feel like part of the old city’s circulation, not just a viewing platform.
  • Wooden windows, stairways, and river views create natural photo frames.
  • It connects well with the cruise pier, riverside night views, and the Nanjinguan direction.
Insider Tips

Huaguang Tower does not need a long visit. About 30-45 minutes is usually enough for climbing, looking around, and taking photos.

The stairs and corridors are narrow, so slow down if traveling with older visitors, children, or extra bags.

Late afternoon is photogenic but also busier. Be patient if you want window-frame photos.

If you plan to take an evening cruise, do not leave the tower climb too late.

After coming down, continue toward the riverbank instead of walking back deep into the old city; the route will feel smoother.
