How to Visit
1

Use Zhongtian Tower to understand the center of the old city

Zhongtian Tower stands where several main old-town streets meet.

Tip:It is a good place to understand the layout of Langzhong Ancient City and works best as a stop during your walk, not as a long standalone visit.
2

Climb it for the four-way streets and rooftops

The main reason to climb Zhongtian Tower is to see the internal direction of the old city.

Tip:From above, you can observe how the streets spread outward from the center, with Jinping Mountain and the Jialing River in the distance.
3

Visit in daytime or before late evening

Daytime makes it easier to see rooftops and street lines, while the light before sunset is also comfortable.

Tip:At night, the streets look atmospheric, but the wider old-city layout is less clear.
4

Continue to nearby core sites afterward

Zhongtian Tower is surrounded by the old city’s core streets. After climbing it, you can continue to Han Huanhou Temple, the Imperial Examination Hall, the Confucian Temple, or Huaguang Tower.

Tip:It is better as a route node than as the final stop.
Highlights
  • A representative tower at the center of Langzhong Ancient City.
  • The upper view is best for 360-degree rooftops and street orientation.
  • Compared with Huaguang Tower, it is farther from the river but better for understanding the old city’s inner axis.
  • The tower is compact, making it a useful short stop during an old-town walk.
  • Snacks and shops nearby make it easy to rest before or after climbing.
Insider Tips

Zhongtian Tower itself does not take long, but holiday queues can stretch the visit, so do not plan it too tightly.

The stairs are narrow, so go slowly when climbing and descending.

If you only choose one high viewpoint, pick Zhongtian Tower for the old-town center and Huaguang Tower for the Jialing River.

The surrounding main streets are lively. For a calmer food stop, walk a little farther into the side lanes.

Climbing Huaguang Tower and Zhongtian Tower back to back can feel repetitive. Break them up with lanes, snacks, or a riverside walk.
