Free outer areas and paid activities

Yangjiaxi is in Yangjiaxi Village, Xiapu County, Ningde, Fujian, about a 40-minute drive from Xiapu County town. The outer area and some old paths can be entered free of charge, while Banyan Maple Park and bamboo-raft rafting involve separate purchases. Common entrances include the Yangjiaxi Visitor Center (rafting pier) and the Banyan Maple Park entrance.

Banyan Maple Park admission commonly costs about CNY 18 per person. Bamboo-raft products commonly cost about CNY 300 per raft for up to 5 people, though products priced at around CNY 60 per person may also be available. Confirm the pricing unit, departure point, and return arrangement when buying. Bamboo rafting commonly operates from 8:00–16:00, but visitor flow and operating status may change later in the afternoon.

Time needed and who it suits

Allow 2 hours to half a day for the bamboo raft, Banyan Maple Park, and a short creek-side walk. The bamboo raft route is one-way and ends downstream, so a return vehicle or scenic transfer must be arranged before departure. Do not count only the 40 minutes on the raft.

Yangjiaxi suits nature photographers, families who want shallow-water activities, and visitors who enjoy a slow creek-valley pace. The creek, rocks, and deeper sections of the park may be slippery. Older adults, young children, and anyone who cannot swim should stay in clearly safe shallows and public areas.

Choose your visit

Ancient banyans, bamboo rafts, and the creek

The ancient banyan grove in Banyan Maple Park is the main highlight. In the morning, you can observe the tree canopy, creek water, and changes in light. The bamboo raft travels one way along a gentle river channel, with views of the creek bank, bamboo forest, and hills. Specific costumes, mist, or staged performances on the boat cannot be guaranteed.

There are shallow sections of the creek deeper inside the park. Enter the water or wade only when the area is open and the weather and flow conditions are suitable that day. Do not treat staged photography, cattle-and-goose scenes, or artificial mist as a cultural experience, and do not create mist yourself or pay strangers an unofficial fee.

Who it suits

This is suitable for photographers, families, and visitors willing to linger under the trees and beside the creek. Visitors who only want to see the ancient banyans can choose the free outer area or a short Banyan Maple Park route without buying a raft. Anyone who wants rafting should accept the one-way route and make a return plan.

If someone in your group is afraid of water, gets motion sick, or has limited mobility, focus on the entrance, ancient banyan grove, and safe paths. Do not approach the boat channel, slippery rocks, or unguarded riverbanks for a photo.

Build your day

A 2-hour bamboo-raft and banyan route

In the morning, depart from the bamboo-raft pier and complete the roughly 40-minute one-way ride. After getting off at the downstream terminal, go to Banyan Maple Park to see the ancient banyan grove, then return by the transfer or vehicle arranged in advance. Bamboo rafts are charged by raft; when your group is small, ask at the pier whether shared boarding is possible.

The rafting terminal and Visitor Center are not in the same place. If you do not leave a car downstream, confirm the scenic transfer fee and the uphill direction. You can also walk about 1.5 km back, but this adds physical effort to the return.

A half-day creek leisure route

Finish the bamboo rafting in the morning, walk around Banyan Maple Park, and then go to the shallow creek section deeper in the park if the on-site safety notices allow it. Keep time in the water short, wear shoes with good grip or secure water shoes, and protect your phone, camera, and spare clothes from water.

If the water level rises, rain strengthens, or the relevant area is closed, skip the water and stay with the ancient banyan grove and public paths. After 14:00, bamboo rafting and some activities may become more crowded or stop accepting visitors, so a late arrival cannot follow the morning pace.

A one-day regional combination

For an eastern-route day, you can split Huazhu Village at sunrise, Yangjiaxi, other coastal mudflats, and Dongbi Village at sunset into separate stops. Yangjiaxi is in a creek valley, however, and requires driving between it and the coastal locations; it is not a continuous walking route.

Calculate the rafting terminal, car retrieval, parking, and road time before sunset together. If any stop is affected by weather, congestion, or an unsuitable tide, reduce the later stops rather than taking a dangerous navigation shortcut.

Get there

Navigation and driving

Set the navigation destination to “Yangjiaxi Visitor Center” or “Yangjiaxi Parking Lot.” Do not enter only “Yangjiaxi Scenic Area” and then follow the route onto a winding mountain lane. The Visitor Center parking lot is usually free. After parking, confirm the rafting pier, Banyan Maple Park entrance, and the direction for the vehicle's return.

If you plan to return from downstream after rafting, arrange a pick-up vehicle in advance or confirm the scenic transfer when buying the ticket. Do not park at a roadside location offered by private touts, and do not drive into a narrow mountain road to get closer.

High-speed rail and public transport

A taxi from Xiapu Station to Yangjiaxi takes about 40 minutes and commonly costs around CNY 80. Public transport usually requires going from Xiapu Bus Station toward Yacheng Town, then changing vehicles or taking a taxi to the attraction. The connection is inconvenient, so the return needs special planning.

Non-driving visitors should confirm how to return from the rafting terminal to the Visitor Center or accommodation before buying. If you have found only an outward vehicle and no return plan, do not buy a one-way bamboo-raft product.

Know before you go

The rafting terminal and paid activities

Bamboo rafting is a one-way product. When charged by raft, each raft commonly seats 5 people. Before buying, confirm the pricing unit, departure point, terminal, and return method. Do not combine the Banyan Maple Park ticket, bamboo-raft ticket, and transfer fee into one item.

The free outer area and paid core area of Banyan Maple Park should also be understood separately. If you only want the ancient banyans or an outer old-path walk, choose a short route within the open area. If you enter the paid area, follow that day's entrance and activity rules.

Staged scenes, wading, and equipment

There may be commercial arrangements such as cattle or goose scenes and staged mist photography. These are not fixed free activities for every visitor. Do not use smoke cakes yourself, approach animals, or pay temporary photographers a fee that has not been explained.

Moss and rocks beside the creek are slippery. Wear shoes with good grip, and with children stay in shallow water and clearly open areas. Do not enter the boat channel, climb riverbanks, or look for unmarked water-entry shortcuts. Leave the creek promptly when rain increases.
