Dongbi is in Dongbi Village, Sansha Town, Xiapu County, Ningde, Fujian. The main street is a commonly used starting point. This is an open fishing village, not an enclosed attraction with one ticket gate and one operating schedule. Village roads, coastal paths, viewpoints, and residential areas are spread across different locations.
The village can be entered all day, but for sunset you should arrive at places such as Gangwei Bridge, the Light and Shadow Boardwalk, or another safe viewpoint before the day's sunset. The village suits walking and short bicycle rides; moving between villages or separate viewpoints requires driving, a hired car, or another transport plan. Do not estimate the whole visit from the walking time inside the village.
Tickets, time needed, and who it suits
Dongbi is free to enter and does not require a reservation. Half a day is enough for the main street, Gangwei Bridge, and the Light and Shadow Boardwalk. If you also want sunrise, mudflat views, or stops along the Donghai No. 1 coastal route, plan them separately around the tide, weather, and transport; an overnight stay or more time is often needed.
This suits photographers, coastal walkers, sunset viewers, and visitors who enjoy a slower village pace. Sea wind, stone steps, sand, and village roads have different surfaces, so with older adults or anyone with limited mobility, keep the visit to safe, level viewing areas.

Village views, boardwalks, and the coast
Gangwei Bridge gives views of the mudflat, seaweed racks, and fishing boats. The Light and Shadow Boardwalk is suitable for a coastal walk. Shijianhai Lane, Yugongting Beach, and the slope near the village entrance offer different views of the village and sea, but they do not form one flat, continuous indoor-style route.
The scene changes with weather, light, and tide. Clear weather makes the sea and mudflat patterns easier to see, while a rising tide reduces the visible mudflat. Do not treat an orange sunset, low visitor numbers, or a particular café being open as a fixed part of the experience.
Who it suits
Photographers can focus on Gangwei Bridge, the Light and Shadow Boardwalk, and higher ground near the village entrance. Visitors who only want to see the sea can take a short route from the main street to the coast. With family members, prioritize a daytime village walk and one main viewpoint instead of repeatedly using narrow roads and steps to chase several photo angles.
If you want to explore the tidal flat or get closer to it, first check the tide, open boundaries, and land-use conditions. Residents and aquaculture activities share the village, so ask permission before photographing workers or entering private aquaculture areas.

A half-day sunset route
Start at Gangwei Bridge, walk along the Light and Shadow Boardwalk, return to the main street for a break, and wait for sunset at a suitable viewpoint for that day. Confirm your parking place and return direction in advance, so you do not discover after sunset that the car is in a congested area or far outside the village.
You do not need to walk every village road. When the wind is strong, surfaces are slippery, or the tide is rising, staying on paths and viewpoints with clear boundaries is the safer choice. Do not enter a private mudflat just to get closer to the waterline.
A two-day sunrise-and-sunset plan
On the first afternoon, visit the main street, Gangwei Bridge, and the Light and Shadow Boardwalk, then stay somewhere with a practical transport location. On the second day, choose Huazhu Village for sunrise, Xiahao Mudflat, or another stop in Sansha Town according to the weather and tide. Calculate the driving time for the second day separately; it is not a short walk from Dongbi Village.
Parking, food, and rooms in the Dongbi homestay area can change on weekends and holidays. Confirm the accommodation and car location before leaving. On the return trip, use roads you already understand instead of changing route at the last minute because of a private tout.
A one-day Donghai No. 1 drive
Drivers can make Dongbi one stop along the Donghai No. 1 coastal route, then continue to Danwan Viewpoint, Haiweijiao, Dajing Beach, Xiawei Island, or other locations. Each stop has different tide, parking, and walking conditions. In particular, do not treat the sea cave at Xiawei Island as an ordinary beach activity.
This plan suits visitors with a clear vehicle and return arrangement. If the weather worsens, the tide is unsuitable, or roads are congested, reduce the number of stops and prioritize returning in daylight.
Get there
High-speed rail, taxi, and village transport
After taking high-speed rail to Xiapu Station, a taxi to Dongbi Village usually takes about 30–40 minutes and commonly costs around CNY 80. Once there, you can walk around the main street and nearby viewpoints, or rent a shared electric scooter depending on the day's availability. Moving between separate attractions requires another vehicle arrangement.
A tourist bus can be an option for travel toward the railway station, but it does not replace transport between Dongbi and other coastal stops. Before returning, confirm the driver, bus, or homestay pick-up plan; a ride that is available on the way in may not be equally easy to find at night.
Driving and parking
Set the navigation destination to “Dongbi Village” or to a specific parking location. Roads inside the village are narrow and can become congested during holidays, and village parking is limited. If you park outside the village, consider both the walking distance and lighting after sunset.
Do not use roadside private parking offered by touts, and do not stop at a resident's entrance, an aquaculture access road, or a narrow village lane just to get closer to a viewpoint. Confirm the car's location first, then decide how far to walk.
Know before you go
Weather, tide, and coastal safety
On cloudy or rainy days, the sea and mudflat may look darker, and the sea wind may strengthen. If you want to see mudflat patterns or explore at low tide, check the tide and weather in advance. Tide information helps with timing, but cannot guarantee that a viewpoint will be open or that the scene will match your expectations.
Coastal paths, sand, and reefs require shoes with good grip. Do not cross barriers, enter unopened roads, or enter private aquaculture areas. Ask before photographing fishermen or work scenes and keep a respectful distance.
Parking, food, and supplies
Parking pressure is high inside the village during holidays, and seafood in the Dongbi homestay area may cost more than in Sansha Town. You can use Sansha Town as a separate meal stop, but do not assume that a particular restaurant or café will be open.
The coast is cooler in the morning and evening. Bring a light jacket, sun protection, and drinking water. Complete the main visit during the day or around sunset, and leave extra time for traffic, retrieving the car, and unfamiliar roads at night.
