Confucius Museum is at 100 Kongzi Avenue in Qufu. The main entrance is on a second-floor platform reached directly from Kongzi Avenue. This is a modern exhibition museum about 3 km from the Temple of Confucius, Kong Family Mansion and Cemetery of Confucius, so it works better as a separate half-day stop than as part of an old-city walking route.
Allow about 1.5–2 hours for the main highlights and 3–4 hours for the full main exhibition and digital displays. Regular hours are Tuesday–Sunday, 09:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:00; the museum is closed on Mondays. An extended 09:00–19:00 schedule with last entry at 18:00 applied from 25 July to 30 August 2026 and should be treated as a date-specific arrangement.
Free admission and booking
Confucius Museum is free. The usual arrangement is real-name booking through the official Confucius Museum WeChat account, with morning and afternoon entry sessions. Recent arrangements have also included on-site scanning or identity-card entry; overseas visitors should confirm the available document and booking route for their date.

Modern exhibitions and key displays
The main highlights include the “Confucius Code” light-and-shadow space in the third-floor entrance hall, the “Great Confucius” main exhibition on the second floor, a Warring States jade horse, the Ten Shang-Zhou ritual vessels and the Ming dynasty “Illustrated Life of Confucius.” Together, they present Confucius's life, ideas, ritual objects and historical images in a modern museum setting, complementing the ancient buildings of the Three Confucian Sites.
The “Confucius Code” space gives an immediate sense of the exhibition design. “Great Confucius” is the place for a more systematic visit, while the jade horse and Ten Shang-Zhou ritual vessels work as clear individual stops. Visitors interested in modern museums, digital displays and photography will have a different experience here from the old-building routes in the city.

The museum suits history and culture enthusiasts, families and visitors who prefer indoor exhibitions. Photographers can look for silhouette and upward-facing views around the book wall and light-and-shadow space. Families can build a shorter route around the main exhibition and selected objects.
After the Temple of Confucius and Kong Family Mansion, the museum adds material on Confucius's life, ritual objects and historical images. On a half-day visit, prioritise the third-floor entrance hall, the second-floor main exhibition and key objects, then use the remaining time for other display cases.

About 1.5–2 hours: key-display route
Enter through the second-floor platform, go first to the third-floor entrance hall for “Confucius Code,” then move down to the second-floor “Great Confucius” exhibition. Focus on the Warring States jade horse and the Ten Shang-Zhou ritual vessels before leaving through the first-floor exit.
This route suits visitors with limited time who still need to return to the Three Confucian Sites or continue to Qufu East Station. The entrance, third floor and second-floor galleries can be reached by lift; once inside, follow the exhibition down through the floors.
About 3–4 hours: full main-exhibition route
Follow the third-floor, second-floor and first-floor sequence in full. Alongside the “Great Confucius” main exhibition, see the digital “Illustrated Life of Confucius” and the museum's other displays. Keep the jade horse, Ten Shang-Zhou ritual vessels and the entrance-hall light wall as fixed stops, then distribute the remaining time according to your interests.
Collect stored items and arrange the return near the first-floor exit. There is some walking between the outdoor plaza and the entrance, and visitors with large luggage can ask staff whether the free staffed storage near the first-floor exit is available.
Get there
From Qufu East Station and by car
A taxi from Qufu East Station to Confucius Museum takes about 10–15 minutes. By car, navigate directly to “Confucius Museum,” which has a large free car park. The main museum entrance is on the second-floor platform.
Confucius Museum is about 3 km from the Three Confucian Sites. The Three Confucian Sites car park, museum car park and Qufu East Station are separate transport points, so moving from the old-city attractions to the museum requires its own taxi or driving leg.
Moving through the museum
The entrance is on the second-floor platform, and the exhibition route usually runs from the third floor down to the first. Lifts are available for visitors with children, luggage or a preference for fewer stairs. The outdoor plaza is large, so include the walk from the car park to the platform entrance.

Opening days and date-specific hours
The regular rule is Monday closed and Tuesday–Sunday 09:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:00. The summer extension from 25 July to 30 August 2026 was date-specific; during that period, last entry was at 18:00. Do not apply the extension to other dates.
Booking is divided into morning and afternoon sessions. Whether on-site scanning or identity-card entry is available depends on the day's arrangement. Overseas visitors should check the accepted document and booking route before travelling to avoid a mismatch at the entrance.
Guides, storage and museum services
The self-service audio guide costs CNY 30. You can also scan the QR codes beside the objects for explanations. The storage cabinets at the second-floor entrance are mainly small; ask staff about large luggage, as free staffed storage may be available near the first-floor exit.
The museum has a cultural-creative shop and exhibition-related souvenirs. The main visit remains the entrance hall, the “Great Confucius” exhibition and the key objects. Include the walking sections between the outdoor plaza, car park and galleries in the visit time.
