Film sets and *Dream of the Red Chamber*
Rongguo Mansion is at No. 51 Xingrong Road in Zhengding. It is a period-style complex built as a television filming location, not a historic mansion. The visit centers on recreated scenes from *Dream of the Red Chamber*, the architecture and live performances. It is a good fit for fans of the novel, traditional-style photography and immersive shows.
Day and night tickets
An adult day ticket costs RMB 40 and a student ticket RMB 20. Daytime hours are 08:30–18:00. The “A Dream in the Red Chamber” night experience runs 18:00–21:30 and has a separate ticket. Show times and ticket details for the day are listed on the official sales page.
How long to spend
One hour is enough for a quick look at the main courtyard, West Garden and Ningrong Street. First-time visitors should allow 2–3 hours for the Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall, garden and daytime shows. The night experience has its own ticket; if you plan to attend both sessions on the same day, buy the corresponding ticket for each and enter at the times shown on the tickets.

Courtyards and the Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall
The Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall covers the author’s family, life and the background to *Dream of the Red Chamber*. Rongxi Hall, Jia Mu’s Courtyard, Xiaoxiang Pavilion and Fengjie’s Courtyard are among the main recreated settings. Fans of the novel can look for characters and scenes; newcomers can start with the memorial hall.
The garden, Ningrong Street and performances
West Garden has small bridges and water features. The two Xifu flowering crabapple trees (西府海棠) in Jia Mu’s Courtyard are best photographed in spring. Ningrong Street is a period-style commercial street outside the mansion, with street scenes, snacks and souvenir and cultural merchandise shops. Daytime performances include Honglou Youxi (《红楼有戏》); at night, “A Dream in the Red Chamber” (《一梦入红楼》) combines light projections with walk-through scenes. Check the day’s programme and ticket types.
Who will enjoy it, and what to expect
The easy courtyard route suits traditional-style and Hanfu photographers, families with children, and older visitors. Most interiors are viewed from the doorway, where wax figures recreate scenes; visitors hoping to explore rooms in depth should know this in advance. The grounds have many commercial shops, and the main focus is the sets, memorial hall and performances rather than historic architecture.

For a separate temple visit about 1.5 kilometres away, see Longxing Temple.
Build your day
A one-hour short route
Enter through the main entrance, visit Rongxi Hall and Jia Zheng’s Office Courtyard, cross West Garden, then leave via Ningrong Street. If time is tight, focus on the central courtyards, West Garden and Ningrong Street. This works as a single stop on a day in Zhengding Ancient City.
A 2–3-hour full route
Main entrance → Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall → central courtyards, including Rongxi Hall and Jia Mu’s Courtyard → east and west gardens → Ningrong Street. Pick up the day’s performance programme after entering and fit daytime shows into the route according to your ticket. The night show requires a separate night ticket; enter at the time printed on it. Allow time to walk between venues.
Timing and performances
Crowds are heavier during holidays, and it helps to arrive early for popular performances. Day and night sessions are ticketed separately. If attending both on the same day, buy the corresponding tickets and use the ticket times and day’s programme to plan entry, performances and departure.
