Exhibitions at the Memorial Museum
The Memorial Museum’s entrance hall has a group sculpture of revolutionary leaders. Exhibits on the three major campaigns and the Second Plenary Session of the Seventh CPC Central Committee are in the main galleries, alongside telegrams and historical objects arranged by period. Families and student groups can connect material from textbooks with the actual exhibits.
Former Site of the CPC Central Committee and the monument
The Former Site of the CPC Central Committee preserves the residences of leaders including Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, the three-room earthen building used as the Central Military Commission’s operations room, and the site of the Second Plenary Session of the Seventh CPC Central Committee. The granite monument is a landmark; climb to its platform for a view over the grounds. Take time to look at the courtyards, doors and windows at the Former Site of the CPC Central Committee, then photograph the wider site from the monument plaza.
1948 Street and who will enjoy the visit
1948 Street is beside the Memorial Museum, with period-style streets, themed cafés and souvenir shops for a break after the visit. It suits visitors interested in modern Chinese history, families, student groups and organized visits. Some galleries are being renovated, so displays may change while work is underway.
For a separate mountain outing elsewhere in Pingshan County, see Tuoliang Scenic Area.
