Lakeside park and visit time

Qishi Mountain Cultural Tourism Area is beside Xinghai Lake (星海湖), around Huanhu Road in Dawukou District. It covers about 1.1 square kilometres and was rated a National 4A Tourist Attraction in 2018. The park and Xinghai Lake are next to each other, but have separate entrances and ticketing; allow time for separate entry and transport if visiting both on the same day. The park was created by rehabilitating a fly-ash dump. Its unusual stones, sculptures, gardens and ecological landscapes are spread across different zones. Allow about 1–3 hours, depending on your interests.

Entry and activity charges

Standard admission, the Stone Museum, transport within the park and rides may have separate charges. The scenic area has previously announced free-admission policies for visitors aged 60 and over with a senior ID, children under 1.2 m accompanied by an adult, Shizuishan residents verified with valid ID, and visitors with disability certificates or other eligible documents. Confirm the current rules and required ID before buying. Ask for the current adult admission price; check opening hours and prices separately for the Stone Museum and rides.

Choose your visit

Stone gardens and sculpture

The main path passes large stones, landscaped gardens and human figures carved in stone. The stone arch at the entrance and the “Nuwa Mends the Sky” (女娲补天) sculpture are easy landmarks. On a clear day, look for a higher viewpoint over Xinghai Lake. Take photos only from open paths and designated viewing areas.

The Stone Museum (石博馆)

The Stone Museum displays ornamental stones and related cultural material, making it a good stop for visitors interested in stone collecting and carving. Check the entrance notice for opening status, exhibition areas and ticket price. If time is limited, walk through the park first and decide whether to buy museum admission afterward.

Butterfly Spring (彩蝶泉) and family areas

The park has several zones: an entrance recreation area, a stone-appreciation area, stone sculpture and carving, Butterfly Spring ecological recreation, children’s science and play, and a snow park. Facilities, available activities and age limits can change by day; check the posted notices. Snow activities are seasonal.

Build your day

About a one-hour walk through the park

Enter through the main gate, see the stone arch, then follow the main path past the unusual stones and sculptures to the “Nuwa Mends the Sky” sculpture. Return the same way. Allow about an hour at a comfortable walking pace. If you do not use transport within the park or rides, focus on the public garden scenery.

2–3-hour museum and garden visit

After entering, follow the park route through the stone gardens, then visit the Stone Museum. If the sightseeing cart, mini-train or family facilities are operating that day, you can add one. Before buying, confirm what each ticket includes, the price and the last departure. Return to the main entrance by confirmed park transport or on foot.

Get there

Navigation, driving and parking

Search for “Huaxia Qishi Mountain Cultural Tourism Area” (华夏奇石山文化旅游区) or “Qishi Mountain” (奇石山); the address reference is Huanhu Road (环湖路) in Dawukou District. The park is beside Xinghai Lake, about 7 km from central Dawukou. Actual driving time depends on your starting point and route. There is parking on site; check posted charges and any event-day parking arrangements.

City buses and taxis

From central Dawukou, you can drive or take a taxi. If using a bus, first check whether a service near the entrance is running that day, then confirm the stop, return service and last departure.

Know before you go

Budget and venue access

Check separate price lists for the Stone Museum and rides, and confirm exactly what each ticket covers before buying. Construction or seasonal changes may affect access; check whether the Stone Museum, slide and family areas are open before setting out.

Outdoor walking and child safety

The park is large, so wear comfortable walking shoes and bring drinking water and sun protection. Stay on open paths. Keep children with an adult around the stone displays, lakeside and ride areas. If you encounter barriers, construction or a temporary closure, follow the detour signs or turn back.

Meals after your visit

After the visit, return to central Dawukou for a meal. Lamb-rib noodles cooked in a clay pot are one local option; check restaurant locations and opening hours before setting out.
