Plan at a glance

The desert area and suggested visit time

Yinshawan lies in the Tamin Chagan Desert, where the Yangxumu River (养畜牧河) runs through a landscape of sand dunes, hills and water. The attraction focuses on desert scenery and activities organized by the operator, making it a place to view dunes and try desert activities.

Allow about 2–3 hours for one or two activities, or 4–6 hours for a slower visit with several activities. Queues, blowing sand and shuttle transfers can affect the timing. Plan to return before the site closes.

Name, entrance and opening hours

Search for “库伦旗银沙湾旅游景区” in your navigation app. Ctrip lists the address as No. 1 Yinshawan Road, north of Daoludugacha in Kulun Town. Its current listing shows opening hours of 08:30–17:30 and last admission at 16:30. The season, weather and on-site arrangements may change; confirm before setting out.

On arrival, follow Yinshawan’s entrance map and ticket-office directions into areas open that day. Nearby sand may not be managed by the attraction; do not enter on your own via roads outside the attraction.

Tickets and visit details

View visit options for this attraction and confirm the visit date and current arrangements before you go.

Choose your visit

Dunes and short activities

For sightseeing, use the day’s map to choose an open area, then follow designated paths to view the dunes, river and landscape. Wind can reshape dune ridges; do not cross fences or enter closed areas for a photo.

To add an activity, choose one or two options such as an off-road vehicle, sand sliding or a riding activity from those open that day. Vehicle types, driving rules, duration and fees vary, so confirm the scope before taking part.

Choosing areas and several activities

The attraction may offer single-activity areas and package tickets. The areas covered, number of turns and included activities depend on the day’s price list. Before buying, ask the ticket office to explain the eligible areas, activity counts and refund or change rules.

Queues and shuttle transfers can take time during holidays. If not everyone in your group wants to try off-roading or riding, agree on a meeting point in an open area and check whether that area requires a ticket or limits how long you may stay.

Families, photography and fitness

Walking on soft sand takes more effort. Older adults, young children and visitors with limited mobility should ask about walking distances, shuttle service and activity restrictions, then choose a route and activities that suit the group.

For photos, use areas near the entrance and designated viewpoints. Protect your equipment when it is windy. Do not use areas behind fences or unmarked patches of land as photo spots. Check on-site rules before flying a drone.

For a separate heritage visit in Kulun Town, away from the desert attraction, see Kulun Three Principal Monasteries.

Build your day

2–3-hour short visit

After entering, check the day’s map and which activities are operating. Choose an open area and one main activity, allowing time to walk over the dunes and queue. Ask the attraction whether shuttles are running, how often they depart and where they stop.

When finished, follow signs back to the designated exit or parking area. If shuttles are not running, queues are too long or walking areas are restricted, shorten your visit. Do not cross closed areas to take a shortcut.

4–6-hour full visit

For a longer visit, compare single-activity tickets and packages at the ticket office, choose activities that are open and schedule water, rest and a meal. Dining inside the attraction has not been confirmed; you can plan an important meal in Kulun Town.

Leave enough time to return to the designated exit or parking area. If the shuttle is running, follow the last-service schedule for your return. Night photography and camping require separate confirmation and should not be treated as ordinary after-hours activities.

Get there

Driving and parking

Navigate to No. 1 Yinshawan Road, about 28 kilometres from central Kulun Town. Check live road conditions and park only as directed on site. Do not park on roads, sand or open pasture.

Check signs for parking fees, available spaces and where private vehicles may go. Do not drive into dunes or closed areas unless the attraction has clearly opened and organized a specific activity there.

Public transport and return arrangements

The attraction is far from Kulun Town. If you arrive by coach or train, arrange the final leg of the trip in advance. Confirm stops and the last service with the carrier, and book a taxi or hired car ahead of time; do not wait until you reach town to look for a ride.

If you book a car or pick-up, agree on the entrance, pick-up time and contact details beforehand. Do not rely on finding a car on demand.

Know before you go

Confirm prices, activities and contact details

Admission, shuttles, packages and individual activities may each cost extra. Check the day’s price list for each fee, what is included, refund rules and child discounts. Do not assume amusement activities are included in the entrance ticket. Before buying online, visitors using a foreign passport should confirm that the platform supports passport registration and a payment method they can use.

Ctrip’s Yinshawan page lists the ticket enquiry number 400 633 0475. You can call to ask about opening hours and products, but the number may change. If it does not connect, follow the notice at the attraction entrance.

Windblown sand, sun and electronic devices

The Kulun sand area has strong sun and can become windy with little warning. Bring water, sun protection, goggles or a windproof face covering, and shoes that are easy to shake sand out of. Pause sand activities during strong winds, rain or poor visibility, and follow staff instructions.

Keep phones, cameras and charging ports in sealed bags to keep out sand. Some desert plants have thorns; watch where you step. Do not run on unstable dunes or slide down slopes that are not open for the activity.

Boundaries and nearby attractions

Enter through the attraction’s official entrance with a ticket. Do not follow wind turbines, industrial land or dirt roads to look for an informal entrance to the sand. Follow signs for open dune and lakeside areas; confirm permission before camping, driving or taking photos.

Kulun Three Principal Monasteries are in the Kulun Town area and require separate transport and visit time from Yinshawan. If visiting both in one day, check the round-trip driving time first. Take your rubbish with you. Confirm dining and fuel stops before setting out.
