How to Visit
1

Use a car or taxi as the main way to reach the park

You can travel directly from central Xi'an or Xi'an Xianyang International Airport. By metro, take Line 14 to Qinhan New City Station, then take a taxi for about CNY 10-15.

Tip:The park is outside the central city. Taxi and public-transport options become more limited after 17:00, so do not leave your return journey until closing time.
2

Buy the seasonal ticket and enter by 17:00

Tickets are CNY 70 from March to November and CNY 55 from December to February; students receive half-price admission. Summer-season hours run until 18:30, while winter-season hours run until 18:00.

Tip:Entry stops at around 17:00 despite the later closing times. Arriving later prevents you from completing the main museum route.
3

Begin at the Burial Pits Protection Exhibition Hall

Walk along the glass route above the original burial pits and look at the layout of the pits, ceramic figures, pigs, dogs, and other grave goods.

Tip:This is the part of the park that most needs historical context. Walking quickly along the glass route makes it easy to miss how the burial system was organised.
4

Continue through the Archaeological Exhibition Hall, South Que Gate site, and Deyang Temple site

Follow the order of burial pits, exhibition hall, South Que Gate, then Deyang Temple. This walking route includes painted female figures, tea remains, the gate site, and ritual architecture.

Tip:The four sites form a walking loop, and private cars cannot enter the visitor area. Do not overlook the walking distance between the car park and the displays.
5

Match your time and interpretation option to the depth of visit you want

A quick visit takes about 1.5 hours; allow 2-3 hours for a slower visit with interpretation. Guided tours for the burial pits and archaeological hall cost about CNY 50 each; audio guides cost about CNY 20-30.

Tip:The restaurant near the exhibition hall may sell out or stop service after 13:00, so do not rely entirely on the park for a late lunch.
Highlights
  • The Burial Pits Protection Exhibition Hall preserves an in-situ archaeological view of 81 burial pits.
  • Small ceramic figures and animal figures reveal a Han imperial burial system distinct from the Terracotta Army.
  • The Archaeological Exhibition Hall includes the painted seated female figure, early tea remains, and a ceramic board game.
  • The South Que Gate site helps explain the ceremonial entrance architecture of a Han imperial mausoleum.
  • The Deyang Temple site adds the ritual setting connected to the imperial tomb complex.
Insider Tips

Weekend and public-holiday direct buses run from Administrative Center Station for about CNY 5, but services are limited and the final return bus is around 15:40.

Multi-person pedal carts can be rented inside the park, but ordinary private cars cannot enter the touring area.

If choosing a guide, prioritise the burial pits and archaeological hall; these sections benefit most from explanation.

Summer routes have long exposed sections. Bring water, sun protection, and walking shoes; take extra care on outdoor paths in wet weather.

If you have a flight or train later that day, plan to leave before 17:00 to avoid reduced return-transport options.
