How to Visit
1

Choose between driving and the direct coach, with the West Gate as your arrival point

If driving, navigate to Yuanjia Village West Gate, which is close to the food street. A direct coach leaves Xi'an Chengxi Bus Station at 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, and 19:00; the fare is CNY 22.2.

Tip:Return coaches leave Yuanjia Village at 06:40, 08:40, 10:40, 12:40, 14:40, and 17:00. If you stay for evening performances, this service will not take you back.
2

Start on the main street and snack street, ordering small portions from several places

The main street, snack street, and village-history museum are free to enter. Visit Workshop Street first, then Kangzhuang Old Street and the main street, choosing food according to queue lengths.

Tip:Free access to the main street does not make every activity free. Shops operate independently, so avoid filling up at the first stall before seeing other options.
3

Separate the workshop visit from the food stop

Workshop Street shows the making of rapeseed oil, tofu, chilli, fermented rice wine, yoghurt, noodles, vinegar, and flour products. Choose dishes such as roujiamo, lamb-blood soup with vermicelli, tofu pudding, or noodles afterwards.

Tip:Queues on the main street can become long on public holidays; move to side streets or another stall instead of waiting too long.
4

Confirm whether you are entering a paid attraction before the evening

Yanjia Lane can be walked for free before 16:30, but its evening performances and light show require a separate ticket: about CNY 40 per person or CNY 59 for two people. The ecological park also charges separately, at about CNY 30 on site, with animal-feeding packages extra.

Tip:After 16:30, do not treat Yanjia Lane or the animal park as free extensions of the main street. Child-free-entry rules apply only to the relevant ticket type.
Highlights
  • The main street and snack street bring together Guanzhong snacks that are easy to try in small portions.
  • Workshop Street retains front-shop, back-workshop displays of traditional food making.
  • Kangzhuang Old Street gathers intangible-heritage and creative shops away from the densest main-street crowds.
  • The village-history museum is free to visit and adds context to the village's development.
  • Yanjia Lane's evening performances and the ecological park work as separate paid add-ons, rather than essential parts of the free main-street visit.
Insider Tips

Weekdays are easier than weekends and public holidays. If you visit during a busy period, start on side streets and Workshop Street before returning to the main street for food.

Driving from Xi'an takes about one hour, and the West Gate is close to the food street. Highway tolls are about CNY 15; follow on-the-day directions for parking and walking distance.

The main street is free, but evening performances, the animal park, animal feeding, and all food purchases are charged separately.

If using the Chengxi Bus Station coach, plan around the final 17:00 return departure. Arrange a different return option before leaving Xi'an if you want to stay into the evening.
