Where the performance is
The Mount Longhu Hanging Coffin Performance is staged in the viewing area at Taohua Islet, which is part of the Xianshui Rock Scenic Area. After Elephant Trunk Hill, you can take the sightseeing bus to the bamboo-raft wharf, then take a raft along the Luxi River to the Xianshui Rock area and walk on to Taohua Islet. If you do not take the raft, follow the scenic-area sightseeing-bus route for the day to Taohua Islet or a nearby viewing stop.
Sessions, tickets, and reservations
The current regular sessions are usually at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, and 16:00. A 15:00 session may be added on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and extra sessions may be added during holidays. The performance is included with the Mount Longhu scenic-area admission ticket; there is no separate performance ticket. The main scenic-area ticket can be reserved ahead through the official “Mount Longhu Tourism” WeChat account and other channels. Confirm the session, entry method, and ticket combination on the day’s booking page and on site.
How much time to allow
The performance itself lasts about 30 minutes. If you arrive by bamboo raft, also allow for the queue, river journey, walk after disembarking, and time waiting for the performance. If you do not take the raft, allow for the sightseeing-bus wait, the walk after getting off, and the time spent waiting for the performance. In busy periods, the front positions fill relatively quickly, so if you plan to watch a session, reach Taohua Islet before it starts rather than looking for a viewing platform after you arrive.

The performance and cliff-burial culture
The performance draws on the cliff-burial culture in which the ancient Yue people placed coffins on steep cliffs. It uses high-altitude rope work to reenact how coffins were raised onto the cliffs. It is a live performance with scheduled sessions and weather conditions, so the experience depends on whether the show runs that day.
Taohua Islet and the Xianshui Rock riverbank
Taohua Islet is next to the Luxi River. Before or after the performance, you can take a short riverside walk and look toward the peaks, cliffs, and water around Xianshui Rock. Taking the bamboo raft is the classic way to combine the river scenery with the performance; visitors who do not take the raft can also follow the sightseeing-bus route for the day to Taohua Islet or a nearby viewing stop.
Viewing Platform 1
Viewing Platform 1 faces the performance area more directly than Platform 2 and offers a fuller view. Whether it is open, where visitors may stand, and how crowded it is depend on the conditions that day. For the coffin-lifting and placement movements, a telephoto lens or phone video is more practical than trying to frame a close-up from your viewing position.
Who may enjoy it
Visitors interested in ancient Yue cliff-burial culture can treat the performance as a historical experience within a landscape itinerary. Visitors who enjoy live action and photography should time their arrival around a session. Those who prefer a quiet walk can focus on the Taohua Islet riverbank and decide after the performance whether to continue toward Shangqing.

Classic bamboo-raft route: Elephant Trunk Hill to Taohua Islet
After visiting Elephant Trunk Hill, take the sightseeing bus to the bamboo-raft wharf. Take the raft along the Luxi River to the Xianshui Rock area, then walk to Taohua Islet for the performance. The show lasts about 30 minutes. Afterward, take the bus toward Zhengyi Temple or Shangqing Ancient Town and continue according to the route operating that day.
Route without the bamboo raft
After visiting Elephant Trunk Hill, follow the scenic-area sightseeing-bus route for the day to Taohua Islet or a nearby viewing stop. Walk into the viewing area after getting off. After the performance, take the sightseeing bus toward Zhengyi Temple or Shangqing Ancient Town, or follow the day’s transfer route back to the visitor center.
How to connect with a session

Work backward from the selected transport method and the session announced for the day to decide when to leave Elephant Trunk Hill. In busy periods, arrive near Viewing Platform 1 before the performance begins.
Leaving after the show
After the performance at Taohua Islet, take the scenic-area sightseeing bus toward Zhengyi Temple or Shangqing Ancient Town, or follow the day’s transfer route back to the visitor center. Check on site whether there is a direct bus, how long the next departure may take, and whether the Shangqing direction is open that day.

Connecting the sightseeing bus and bamboo raft
The classic route starts with the sightseeing bus from the visitor center to the bamboo-raft wharf, followed by a raft to the Xianshui Rock area and a walk to Taohua Islet. If you do not take the raft, follow the sightseeing-bus route for the day to Taohua Islet or a nearby viewing stop. Check the bamboo-raft and sightseeing-bus arrangements separately when buying and transferring.
Driving, parking, and a rest stop
If driving, first navigate to the Mount Longhu Scenic Area visitor center. The reference parking fee is CNY 20 per day. Taohua Islet is next to the Luxi River, so you can take a short riverside walk before or after the show. Shangqing Ancient Town is a practical place to arrange a meal; local options include Tianshi chestnut roast chicken, Shangqing tofu, and Luxi River fish.
Know before you go
Weather and flood-season cancellations
Rain, strong winds, or rising water during the flood season can lead to a last-minute cancellation, and the session time may also change with the day’s operations. Check the day’s sessions before setting out and again after arriving. If the show does not run, you can walk along the Taohua Islet riverbank or leave through the transfer route.
Viewing, queues, and photography
The performance is included with the Mount Longhu scenic-area admission ticket; there is no separate performance ticket. Transport such as the sightseeing bus and bamboo raft is charged according to the product you buy. During busy periods, the platforms may become crowded before the show. Platform 1 usually faces the performance area more directly, but standing positions follow the designated visitor areas and on-site crowd control. Do not cross barriers or block walking routes while taking photographs.
Paid photos and on-site charges
After the performance, a paid photo opportunity with the “Hanging Coffin Flyer” may be offered. Ask about the price and what finished images are included before joining. Check the main scenic-area admission ticket, bamboo raft, sightseeing bus, and other services separately against the day’s product descriptions. Do not make a payment based only on a verbal description of a charge that is not displayed on site.
