What and where
Zhanjiang Bay Bridge crosses Zhanjiang Bay from Haichuan Expressway in the east to Leshan Road in the west, connecting Xiashan District and Potou District. It is open 24 hours, and since 1 July 2025 it has been free forever. The best places to see and photograph it are Zhongao Friendship Garden, Jinsha Bay Promenade and Lovers' Pier.
How long to stay
If you only want the bridge-bottom geometry and one full-span view, 1 hour is enough. If you want the bridge, Jinsha Bay sunset and the night lighting together, half a day to an evening is better. It is best used as the closing move in a coastal city route, not as a midday stop under the strongest sun.

1 hour: a quick bridge photo stop
The fastest version is Zhongao Friendship Garden for the bridge-bottom "time portal" view, then Lovers' Pier for the full bridge panorama, and back. That is the easiest way to get a strong bridge photo if you do not want to spend long on the coast.
Half a day to a night route
If you want a fuller day, connect Xiashan Cathedral, the Former French Consulate of Guangzhouwan, Seaside Park, Xiashan's seafront, Fishing Harbor Park and Zhongao Friendship Garden, then finish at Jinsha Bay for sunset and bridge lights around 19:30. If you add a night boat ride, you can also see Zhanjiang Bay and the military harbor after dark.
Build your day
Daylight for structure, evening for light
The bridge-bottom portal at Zhongao Friendship Garden is about geometry and depth, while Jinsha Bay is better for bridge-and-sea panoramas and Lovers' Pier works well for the full span. The blue hour and the lighting around 19:30 are the most photogenic times.
Do not separate the bridge from the coast
The bridge is strongest when you see it together with the coast. If you connect Zhongao Friendship Garden, Jinsha Bay and Fishing Harbor Park, it feels like a single line that stitches the city to the sea rather than a bridge standing alone.
Get there
Driving and bus access
You can navigate straight to Zhanjiang Bay Bridge; the bridge itself is free to use. Bus 2, 20 or 21 to Zhongao Garden Station or Bay Bridge Station works too, then you walk to the viewing point. Shared e-bikes are also a good choice if you want to ride the coastline in the sea breeze.
Parking and boats
Parking around Zhongao Friendship Garden and Jinsha Bay is tight on holidays, so choose your lot in advance. If you plan to take a boat, confirm the route and the life-saving equipment before paying, rather than asking after boarding.
Know before you go
Lighting, wind and sun
The bridge lights usually come on around 19:30, though holidays can change the schedule, so check before you go. The coast is windy and exposed, so a light jacket, sunscreen and sunglasses are all worth bringing, especially if you plan to stay for sunset.
Parking, food and backup meals
Parking is tight near Zhongao Friendship Garden and Jinsha Bay, so it is better to leave the car at Wanxiang Jinsha Bay Square or Liyue Xintiandi and walk in. For food, the seafood market, Rongji oysters, Auntie's desserts, the oyster grills and the hotpot-style seafood spots all fit naturally into this route, and dinner makes the bridge lights feel like a proper finish rather than a separate errand.
