What the beach is good for
Jinsha Bay sits along Guanhai North Road in Chikan District and is one of the easiest sea-view spots in the city. It is free all day, and both the Jinsha Bay Square entrance and the beach gate are practical ways in. The beach works for daytime sand and coconut-grove walks, but it is also one of the best places in Zhanjiang to stay through sunset and the bridge lights.
How long to stay
If you only want the red-and-white lighthouse and a short beach walk, 2 hours is enough. If you want the coconut path, the viewing platform, the mangrove boardwalk and the orange-sea sunset, half a day is better. If you want to combine Jinsha Bay with Chikan Old Street, Xiashan's historic coast and the evening lights, treat it as a full-day stop.

2 hours: a simple beach loop
Enter from Jinsha Bay Square, walk the coconut path, stop at the red-and-white lighthouse for photos, and finish with a short beach walk before returning. This is the easiest route for visitors who mainly want a sea-view break and do not want to spend the whole afternoon in the sun.
Half a day to two days
For a half-day route, link the square, coconut path, beach, viewing platform, mangrove boardwalk and sunset, then end at the night market for seafood. If you have two days, day one can be Jinsha Bay plus Chikan Old Street, and day two can connect Xiashan Cathedral, Fishing Harbor Park and a boat trip to Techeng Island.

Put the sunset in the right place
The key to Jinsha Bay is timing. Walk the coconut path and lighthouse in the afternoon, keep the beach and bridge lights for the evening, and use the mangrove boardwalk in daylight or near dusk. If you want birds and tidal-flat details, the early morning 7-9 a.m. window is better, but do not force every stop into the middle of the day.
See the city and the sea together
If you are here mainly for photos, the square, lighthouse and beach are enough. If you want the full city-meets-sea feeling, save the viewing platform and the long view toward the bridge for the later part of the visit. Jinsha Bay works best when the sea, the meal and the night view are treated as three separate parts of the same outing.
Get there
Driving and parking
The easiest parking is in the underground lot at Wanxiang Jinsha Bay Square, where the first 2 hours are free and the next 3 hours cost CNY 5 in total. Liyue Xintiandi's underground lot is another good option if you scan a shop code for 3 hours of free parking. Do not park on the street beside the park during holidays; it is more expensive and congestion builds fast.
Bus and e-bike
Take bus 2, 10, 11 or 21 to Jinsha Bay Station or Jinsha Bay Square Station, then walk about 5 minutes. Within the city, a shared e-bike is the most flexible option, and at CNY 10-15 a day it is easy to combine Jinsha Bay with Chikan Old Street and other nearby stops.
Know before you go
Sun, tide and water safety
The beach has almost no shade, so sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are essential. The mangrove section has mosquitoes, and the shore and boardwalk areas are all exposed; if you want to go into the water or do shore activity, wear non-slip water shoes and check the tide first.
Spending, showers and food
The beach, boardwalk and promenade are free, but showers and lockers often charge by scan, so it helps to bring a towel and basic toiletries. If you want seafood, it is more reliable to keep the meal for Xiashan or the fishing-harbor side rather than random beachfront restaurants. Jinsha Bay is best used as a view-and-walk stop, not as your only dinner plan.
