Plan at a glance
An island group with Miaozihu as the hub
Dongji is not one gated attraction. Miaozihu, Dongfushan and Qingbang are separate islands. Visitors usually reach Miaozihu first, then transfer to Dongfushan or Qingbang depending on the boat schedule. Miaozihu has sightseeing vehicles, while the other islands are mainly explored on foot.
There is no unified scenic-area entrance ticket. Boats are the main constraint. The islands are open all day, but there are no island-hopping boats at night; the last boat is usually around 16:00. Anyone returning the same day or changing islands must plan around the sailing schedule.
A same-day visit to Miaozihu takes about 6–7 hours. For a first trip, 2 days and 1 night is more practical, with Dongfushan walking separated from the transfer through Miaozihu.
Boat tickets and island transfers
Reference outbound tickets go on sale seven days in advance through the “Zhiyou Haixing” mini-program; reference return tickets go on sale one day in advance through the “Dongji Shipping” mini-program. When tickets are tight, arrange the boat before booking accommodation and keep room for weather changes.
The transfer from Miaozihu to Dongfushan takes about 40 minutes and the transfer to Qingbang about 15 minutes. Island-transfer tickets follow the on-site arrangement and may require cash. With limited time, do not plan all three islands; transfers and waiting can take much of the day.

Miaozihu: the most convenient island
Miaozihu is the main transfer island, with the largest concentration of accommodation, food and sightseeing vehicles. Caibogong Statue, the red-and-white lighthouse, Daodou Old Street and film-location scenery related to *The Continent* suit a short introduction to the island. The sightseeing vehicle can reduce walking according to its operating route.
Miaozihu suits first-time visitors, short stays and people who do not want a long hike. Vehicle routes, sections and stops follow the day's operation.
Dongfushan: coastal walking and sunrise
Dongfushan focuses on coastal scenery, sunrise and walking. The best section of the island loop takes about 3–4 hours on foot; a full loop is about 8 kilometres and 4–5 hours. It suits visitors comfortable with slopes and continuous walking.
Sunrise and sea colour depend on the weather. Treat them as optional views during an early start rather than fixed results.
Qingbang: stone houses and island history
Qingbang retains more stone-house settlements and suits visitors interested in island communities, human history and older buildings. It is mainly explored on foot, and the slopes and steps add time. Add it only when the transfer from Miaozihu fits without putting the return boat at risk.
Build your day
6–7 hours: Miaozihu only
Take an early boat to Miaozihu. After arrival, confirm the return boat and sightseeing-vehicle service, then follow the vehicle route to places such as Caibogong Statue and the red-and-white lighthouse. Leave time to reach the pier, queue and board the afternoon return boat.
This plan suits visitors without an overnight stay or anyone who wants to avoid inter-island transfer risk. If waves delay the boat, remove a viewpoint rather than putting the return close to the last sailing.
2 days and 1 night: Dongfushan plus Miaozihu
After arriving at Miaozihu, transfer to Dongfushan according to the boat schedule. Check in and take a short walk on the west coast. The next morning, if the weather permits, watch the sunrise, then walk the 3–4-hour highlights section of the island loop. In the afternoon, return to Miaozihu and take the scheduled boat off the islands.
This route requires separate confirmation of accommodation, the island transfer and the return boat. Long-distance walking on Dongfushan is not suitable immediately after a rushed transfer; a short coastal walk on arrival is easier to manage.
Adding Qingbang
If you want to visit Qingbang, check the Miaozihu–Qingbang sailing first and reduce the time on Dongfushan if needed. Qingbang's stone-house areas are mainly on foot, so do not use Miaozihu's sightseeing-vehicle times as an estimate.
Get there
From Zhoushan's main island to Miaozihu
Dongji is normally reached by boat from passenger piers on Zhoushan's main island, including Banshengdong Pier, to Miaozihu. Confirm the departure pier and sailing on the booking page and on the day. If you are travelling through an external transport point such as Shenjiwan, allow a separate land transfer before the sea journey.
Visitors prone to motion sickness can choose a more stable lower cabin or middle cabin according to their needs. Upper cabins offer a wider view but may feel more movement. Prepare motion-sickness medicine and avoid boarding hungry when the sea is rough.
Moving between islands
Miaozihu has sightseeing vehicles; reference fare is CNY 88 per person and may allow section-by-section travel. Dongfushan and Qingbang are mainly on foot. Transfers between islands take place through Miaozihu, and ticketing, fares and waiting points follow the day's directions.
Large luggage makes boarding and hill walking harder. Confirm whether your accommodation offers a pier transfer; do not assume every property has a fixed shuttle.
Know before you go
Boats come first
There are no night boats from Dongji, and the last boat is usually around 16:00. Leave room for wind, queues and schedule changes on every outbound, island-transfer and return leg. If you miss the last service, you cannot rely on finding another way off the islands.
Boat tickets, island-transfer tickets and sightseeing vehicles are separate costs. No unified entrance ticket does not mean that all island transport or activities are included in the boat ticket.
Walking and weather
Dongfushan and Qingbang have slopes and steps. Wear grippy shoes and carry water and a light jacket. The coast can be windy, especially in the morning or on cloudy days; do not stand beyond a barrier or at a cliff edge for photographs.
Weather controls visibility, sea colour and sunrise conditions. Strong wind or fog can stop or change the boats. Be prepared to reduce the number of islands, stay longer or change the date.
Island spending and return
Food and supplies on the islands are limited and may cost more than on Zhoushan's main island. Confirm prices before ordering, and carry water and simple food for a long walk. Do not leave finding food until the last moment before a transfer.
If you return to Zhoushan's main island the same day, fix the return boat before filling the remaining time on Miaozihu or another island. Dongji works best when planned around the sailing schedule, not as a race through all three islands.
