An independent cultural venue on Zhujiajian
Guanyin Dharma Realm is on Xianglian Road near Zhujiajian Bridge, on the mainland side opposite Putuo Mountain. It is an independent indoor Buddhist cultural venue. Its admission, access and movement arrangements are separate from the boat to Putuo Mountain, Putuo Mountain temple tickets and transport on the island.
The entrance is inside the complex. After reaching the car park or drop-off point, you still walk through an underground passage to enter. The passage has steps, so large luggage makes the approach harder; travel light or arrange storage beforehand.
Tickets, reservation and opening hours
The adult ticket is CNY 90 per person. Students and visitors aged 60–69 with the required ID pay CNY 45; children under 1.2 metres and visitors aged 70 or over follow the admission exemption rules. Advance booking through the Guanyin Dharma Realm reservation platform is recommended; enter with the ID or ticket required on site.
Regular hours are 09:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:10. In about July and August, the venue may extend to 17:30 and last entry may move to 16:30. Typhoons and other severe weather can cause temporary closure, so leave room to adjust the day.
How much time to allow
The focused route takes about 1.5–2 hours and covers the first-floor Yuantong Hall, the seventh floor and selected areas. A full visit takes about 3–4 hours, including Yongshou Bridge, the multi-level Holy Altar spaces, the Buddha displays, any light show that is open and rest time.
The Holy Altar has several levels, so the visit still involves walking, waiting and moving between floors. Elevator, gallery, light-show and copying-space access depends on the day; allowing half a day makes the pace easier to manage.

The first-floor Yuantong Hall and Holy Altar
The first-floor Yuantong Hall is the main indoor space. It contains a camphor-wood Thousand-Hand Guanyin statue and a dome. It suits visitors interested in architecture, interior design, Buddhist art and large religious spaces; crowd levels and on-site order affect how long you can stay.
The Holy Altar Square is a place to view the scale of the golden-roofed altar from outside. Yongshou Bridge offers another view combining the building and water. Indoor and outdoor light levels differ, so follow the open-area and staff instructions when taking photographs.
Multi-level displays and viewing spaces
The seventh floor has a Guanyin Hall and viewing area. In good weather, you can look across the complex and toward the East China Sea. The Buddha displays on the second and third floors, copying space on the sixth floor and light show on the fourth floor can be selected according to the day's opening and queues; you do not need to rush through every floor.
Light-show times, queues and viewing positions may change, and elevator service may not be smooth. Treat the show and elevator as optional; the main visit can focus on the Holy Altar architecture, indoor spaces and movement between open floors.
Who is it for?
The venue suits architecture and design enthusiasts, visitors interested in Buddhist culture, and families or individuals who want an indoor stop. Multiple floors, the underground passage and queues use energy, so visitors with limited mobility should confirm the walking distance and assistance available.
Indoor temperatures may be lower than outside, so a light jacket is useful even in summer. The pace is steadier than island walking, but still leave time for the entrance, galleries and elevators.
Build your day
The 1.5–2-hour focused route
After entering, start at the first-floor Yuantong Hall to see the Thousand-Hand Guanyin statue and dome. Then go to the seventh floor according to the day's elevator and floor access. Continue down to the sixth and fourth floors; if the light show is open and the queue fits, watch it before leaving.
This route suits visitors with limited time or those who want to understand the main spaces. If the fourth-floor light show, sixth-floor copying space or another floor has a long queue, shorten the stop and keep time for the underground passage, parking and return journey.
The 3–4-hour full route
Enter via Yongshou Bridge and visit the first-floor Yuantong Hall. Then use the elevator or the open route to reach the seventh floor, working downward through the seventh-floor viewing area, sixth-floor copying space, fourth-floor light show and second- to third-floor Buddha displays. Finish with a rest at the lower level before leaving.
Adjust the order to the day's elevator operation, gallery access and crowd levels. If the elevator queue is long, complete the first floor and any open floors first, then decide whether to go higher rather than waiting a long time just to follow a fixed order.
Adjust the pace on the day
Entry, galleries, the light show and elevators each have their own operating conditions. After arriving, confirm last entry, light-show times and the available ways to move through the building before choosing the floor order.
If a typhoon or another severe-weather event occurs, or part of the venue closes temporarily, use the open indoor areas as the main visit and leave time to exit. Guanyin Dharma Realm and Putuo Mountain's main island have separate tickets and entrances, so calculate their visit times separately.
Get there
Enter through the underground passage
After driving or taking a taxi to the complex and car park, follow the signs through the underground passage to the Holy Altar entrance. The passage has steps. Visitors with large luggage, a stroller or companions who need frequent breaks should confirm storage and access arrangements in advance.
Once inside, follow the floor directions and on-site guidance. The main spaces are indoors, but the approach from the parking area still involves walking, so wear suitable shoes in summer and on rainy days.
From the airport or Wugongshi Pier
A taxi from Zhoushan Putuoshan Airport takes about 10 minutes to Guanyin Dharma Realm. From Zhujiajian Wugongshi Pier, take a taxi or bus; the exact stop depends on the day's route and local directions.
Guanyin Dharma Realm is on the mainland side of Zhujiajian, so you do not need to take a boat to Putuo Mountain first. If you visit Putuo Mountain on the same day, arrange its tickets, pier, waiting time and return separately.
Driving and parking
Drivers can navigate to the Guanyin Dharma Realm P3 car park. Reference parking is about CNY 4–6 per hour, or about CNY 16–20 for a 4–5-hour stay. Spaces and charges may change with visitor numbers, so follow the car-park directions on arrival.
You still need to walk through the underground passage from the car park to the Holy Altar entrance. When leaving, allow time to collect the car and walk back through the passage and car park. If you plan to leave before closing, include this time after the indoor visit.
Know before you go
Reservation, last entry and temporary closure
Book in advance where possible and bring the ID that matches the reservation. Regular last entry is around 16:10; the extended summer period may move it to 16:30. Follow the day's opening notice.
Typhoons and other severe weather can close the venue temporarily. The light show, galleries and elevators may also change. Confirm the arrangements before departure and again after arrival, and avoid making the last show or final transport connection too tight.
Multiple floors, temperature and clothing
The Holy Altar has several levels. Some floors are accessible by elevator, but visitors still walk between the entrance, galleries and floors. Wear comfortable flat shoes; older adults and children can reduce the number of floors, and a light jacket is useful if the halls feel cool.
Keep quiet and orderly according to the entrance instructions, and do not obstruct movement when taking photographs. Very revealing clothing, such as thin-strap tops or short shorts, is not suitable for some indoor religious spaces; choose more respectful clothing.
Light show, copying space and on-site spending
The fourth-floor light show and sixth-floor copying space may have different opening times, sessions and queues. If there is no suitable time, skip them. Souvenirs and other venue purchases on the lower level are separate; confirm the price and whether you really need an item before buying.
Guanyin Dharma Realm, Putuo Mountain's main island and Luojia Mountain have separate tickets and entrances. If you visit them on one day, fix the boat-dependent Putuo Mountain schedule first, then fit the indoor visit on the Zhujiajian side around its opening hours.
