Plan at a glance
A beach on the north side of Sijiao Island
Jihu Beach is in Jihu Village, Caiyuan Town, Shengsi County. Navigate to “Jihu Beach Scenic Area” for the main entrance. The beach curves along the coast and suits a 1–1.5-hour short stop, or 3–4 hours from the afternoon into the evening for the sea, sand and softer light.
The reference daytime ticket is CNY 60, usually covering about 07:00–18:00. A reference night ticket of CNY 20 is available after 18:00; night entry is generally for walking and does not allow swimming. Common opening hours are about 07:00–21:30, with seasonal changes and ticket coverage set at the entrance.
Seasonal swimming limits
Swimming is generally prohibited from October 8 to May 31 of the following year. Water activities, changing rooms and some food services may also close during this period. The low season is suitable for the beach and coast, but should not be planned as a summer swimming visit.

Beach and shallow-water activities
Jihu Beach suits sand play, walking and swimming during the open period. Families can choose shallower water according to the on-site signs. The beach is long, and visitor levels differ between the entrance and central areas; walk along the open shore if you want a quieter stop.
Water activities cost extra and operate according to the day. Swimming, jet skis and similar activities are not included in the basic ticket. Children in the water must remain within a guardian's view; the wide beach alone does not determine safety.
An evening coastal walk
Entering later in the afternoon is often more comfortable for a beach walk because of the light and temperature. From an open side exit, you can connect with viewpoints along the Left Bank Road, but that is an external coastal transfer and needs its own return plan.
Jihu Beach faces roughly north and suits evening sea views and walking rather than sunrise. For a morning coastal view, choose a viewpoint at the eastern end of Sijiao Island instead.
Who is it for?
Jihu Beach suits families, visitors who like beach activities and anyone who wants an easy seaside section on Sijiao. Visitors interested in quiet walking, photography or simply looking at the sea may prefer to avoid midday and the summer peak.
Build your day
A 1–1.5-hour short route
Enter through the main gate, walk along the beach to the central area, take photographs and stop briefly, then leave through the main entrance or an open side exit. With limited time, confirm the return vehicle first rather than missing the pier or accommodation transfer while walking the whole beach.
Day tickets commonly include a re-entry arrangement, but this depends on the ticket type and registration. Confirm the voucher and time limit at the exit before leaving if you plan to return.
3–4 hours: afternoon into evening
Enter later in the afternoon, start with beach activities and then walk along the coast. Stay in an open area as the light changes. If there are evening activities in summer, confirm the night ticket's area, swimming restriction and departure transport.
Beach activities, changing, rinsing off and food all take time. Families should include rest and water breaks, and finish the last beach section before the attraction's last-entry time.
Get there
From Shenjiawan to Sijiao Island
From Shanghai, take a boat to Lizhushan Pier on Sijiao Island. The reference sailing time ranges from about 50 minutes to 2 hours. There is no metro; after arrival, take Route 201 or another bus toward Caiyuan Town, then change transport or walk to Jihu Village.
Vehicle-and-passenger ferry tickets are tight in peak periods. Confirm whether a private car can travel on the boat in advance. For most visitors, leaving the car at the terminal and using local transport on Sijiao is easier.
Local transport
Shared electric bikes and rental vehicles are useful for moving around Sijiao, with taxis as a backup. Confirm parking, the return location and evening transport before going to Jihu Beach; after night entry, do not rely only on finding a taxi at the last minute.
Know before you go
Swimming season and sea conditions
Swimming may be restricted outside June–September even when the weather is warm. In summer, watch for jellyfish; if you feel a sting or notice an unusual reaction, leave the water immediately and seek help from the beach medical staff.
Tides, wind and water temperature change the beach edge. Do not approach rocks in rough water, cross the safety line or let children leave the supervised area.
Sun, supplies and extra costs
Water activities, food and rental equipment inside the attraction cost extra. Bring water, snacks, swimwear and sun protection. Confirm the seasonal price and charging method before ordering seafood.
Day tickets, night tickets, parking and nearby attraction tickets are separate. Jihu Beach does not cover every coast experience on Sijiao; leave extra time if you want to add the Left Bank Road, Donghai Fishing Village or Liuhe Chaoyang.
Sunset and the return
Late-afternoon light is suitable for photographs, but clear weather and an ideal sunset are not guaranteed. If you stay at night, fix the vehicle back to your accommodation first and check whether the side gate and road lighting will be available.
