Plan at a glance
Enjoy sweeping forest views and a remarkable stone field
Bailang Peak (白狼峰) lies about 6 kilometers southeast of Bailang Town (白狼镇). From the summit, you can look out over the Greater Khingan Range forest. Government information gives the main peak's elevation as 1,511 meters and the summit's periglacial stone field (冰缘石海) an area of about 200 hectares. The mountain road, forest along the route, and summit trail make up the main visit.
The mountain road and summit trail shape the visit
Follow the winding road from the entrance, stop in the forest where permitted, then walk to the summit viewing area for the stone field and forest views. Allow about half a day for the drive, parking, summit walk, and return. Avoid squeezing several distant attractions into the same outing.
Sunrise depends on weather and access hours
If early-morning access is permitted, sunrise can reward you with soft light over the forested hills. Sunset is another option, provided the scenic area remains open long enough for a safe return. Clouds, strong wind, and poor visibility can affect the view. Bring windproof and warm layers.

Choose your visit
Choose your way up according to the season
A visit usually involves a drive up the winding mountain road followed by a walk to the viewing area. The scenic area may arrange self-driving access or vehicle transfers according to the season and road conditions. Before buying a ticket, ask whether private cars may enter and whether an off-road vehicle transfer costs extra; then choose to drive or take the transfer.
The birch forest and stone field are separate stops
The birch forest (白桦林) along the road is suited to a short stop, while the summit's periglacial stone field requires a walk on the open trail. If time is limited, spend more of it at the summit. Autumn foliage and frost-covered trees depend on the weather and seasonal conditions.
Plan sunrise or sunset around the day's access hours
For sunrise, work backward from sunrise time to allow for getting up, the drive, and the walk to the summit. If the scenic area's opening hours do not cover early morning access, plan for sunset or a daytime visit instead. The summit can be windy or icy; shorten your stay in unsafe conditions and do not drive recklessly to catch sunrise.
For a larger forest-park visit centred on crater lakes, shuttle routes and gorges, see Arxan National Forest Park.
Build your day
Short visit: entrance, roadside forest, summit
From the entrance, follow the mountain road past the roadside forest, then take the summit trail to the stone-field viewpoint before descending along the marked route. If a transfer vehicle stops only at designated points, stop in the birch forest only where parking is allowed. Do not pull over on a bend or road shoulder.
Half day: build sunrise or sunset into the schedule
Make Bailang Peak the main destination for a half-day outing and allow time for the mountain-road drive, summit walk, and rest. If you plan to visit other places in Bailang Town after a morning summit visit, estimate your descent time before arranging lunch and onward transport.
Plan nearby stops separately
Bailang Deer Park (白狼鹿园), Bailang Town Folk Customs Village (白狼镇林俗村), and the Tao'er River Wetland (洮儿河湿地) can be added as separate nearby stops. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism also includes Bailang Deer Park and Bailang Peak in one winter route. Each stop has its own admission, opening arrangements, and transport; check them separately.
Get there
Approach from Bailang Town
Bailang Peak is about 6 kilometers southeast of Bailang Town, with the entrance in the S203 area. From Arxan city, drive yourself or hire a private car with a driver. If you are not driving, ask your accommodation to arrange a round trip and agree on a pickup time for the descent.
Vehicle access changes with the season
The mountain road has repeated bends and slopes. Follow the speed limit and park only in designated areas. Self-driving access and scenic-area transfers can change with the season and road conditions; include vehicle fees, parking, and the return transfer in your budget.
Treat CNY 80 as a dated reference price
As of October 2026, the Ctrip page showed a reference admission price of CNY 80 per person. Whether an off-road vehicle transfer is included, and which visitors qualify, depends on the ticket type. Check the ticket type and transfer details on the ticket you buy.
Know before you go
Work backward from the opening hours for a sunrise visit
As of October 2026, the Ctrip page listed hours of 03:00–20:00 and the ticket-inquiry number 18704827778. These are platform reference details and do not guarantee sunrise access in every season. If you plan to reach the summit before dawn, ask about that day's opening, vehicle access, and parking before setting out.
Expect wind and cold at the summit; drive slowly
Wind and the perceived temperature at the summit can be harsher than in town, so bring windproof warm clothing for an early visit. The mountain road has repeated bends and slopes; drive within the speed limit and park only in designated areas. Follow temporary traffic controls when the road is icy or visibility is poor.
Documents and payment for international visitors
International visitors should carry a passport or other valid travel document. Before buying a ticket, confirm whether the scenic area accepts passports for entry and discount checks, and ask which online booking, on-site purchase, and payment methods are available. The stone field is uneven; wear shoes with good grip and stay on open trails.
