Plan at a glance
Choose an entrance and lake area
Nanhu Park is at No. 2715 Gongnong Avenue in Chaoyang District, Changchun, and is free to enter year-round. The visitor listing says it is open all day; check the day’s notice for entrances and facility hours. Gate 3 on the north side is near Xinmin Square and the Changchun Liberation Monument. The southern end near Gongnong Square has access from the metro station.
Allow time for your route
The monument, Four-Pavilion Bridge (风雨四亭桥), and lotus pond can be a stop during a half-day outing. A one-way walk past Little West Lake and the birch forest, exiting at West Gate 4 (西4门), takes about 2 hours; plan onward transport separately. Golden Beach and the Nanhu Bridge fountain are on the south side and work better as a separate lakeside or evening visit.

Choose your visit
The Liberation Monument and Four-Pavilion Bridge
Enter near Gate 3 to see the Changchun Liberation Monument, then follow the park path to Four-Pavilion Bridge. The bridge and lake are the main northern stops. Stay on open paths near the bridge; do not enter closed areas or step into the traffic lane for photos.
The lotus pond and Little West Lake
The lotus pond is near Four-Pavilion Bridge and is a summer water feature. A July 2026 report recorded lotus blooms that year; flowering varies with the weather, so by autumn the flowers may no longer be a current sight. Stay on the boardwalk and shore when viewing them. Do not pick flowers or leaves, or approach the water where there is no guardrail.
The birch forest and walking greenway
Little West Lake, the birch forest, lotus pond, and Golden Beach are connected by the park’s walking network. You can explore in sections. The 8.07 km figure in the park information covers several greenway sections, including a main lakeside circuit of about 3.54 km. For a shorter walk, stay around the monument and lotus pond; continue to the birch forest if you want to walk farther.
Golden Beach and Nanhu Bridge
Golden Beach is a place to sit by the shore and look across the lake; use public paths around Nanhu Bridge for views. Swimming and lifeguard arrangements depend on on-site notices; the beach name alone does not mean swimming is allowed. Boat rides and other water activities cost extra, are seasonal, and follow the pier’s current hours and prices.
For a larger forest-and-reservoir outing beyond the city-centre park, see Jingyuetan National Forest Park.
Build your day
A one-way route on the north side
Start at Gate 3 and walk in order to the Changchun Liberation Monument, Four-Pavilion Bridge, lotus pond and Little West Lake, then the birch forest. Exit at West Gate 4. Allow about 2 hours for this one-way walk. Follow park signs for open paths; the exit is not back at the starting gate.
Plan your return from West Gate 4
Before leaving, set “Nanhu Park West Gate 4” as the destination in a live map and check the day’s bus stops and boarding points. Alternatively, walk back through the park to Gate 3 and use live bus directions toward Xinmin Square. West Gate 4 and Gongnong Square Station are on different sides of the park.
The southern shore and evening fountain
For Golden Beach and Nanhu Bridge, enter from the south and walk along that section of the shore; there is no need to return to the north side. If you are coming for the fountain, plan the evening show separately. It is in a different area from the daytime monument and lotus-pond route, and weather, season, or on-site management can change that evening’s schedule.
Get there
Gate 3 and the southern entrance
Search separately for “Nanhu Park Gate 3” or “Nanhu Park Golden Beach” in your map app; searching only for the park’s general pin may send you on a long walk around the lake. Gate 3 is near Xinmin Square and the monument. Gongnong Square Station on Rail Transit Line 1 is on the south side and suits entry toward Golden Beach. The two entrances are not close to each other.
Metro and buses
Take Line 1 to Gongnong Square Station and use Exit A. Walk northwest along Gongnong Avenue for several hundred meters to the south side of the park. For buses, search for “Nanhu Park Gate 3” or “Xinmin Square” in a live map, and check the walking route from the Nanhu Park Stop served by buses 62 and 315 to your chosen entrance.
Driving and parking
When driving or taking a taxi, set the gate you plan to use as the destination; Gate 3 and the southern entrance are not interchangeable. Use a live map and on-site signs for nearby parking, fees, and availability.
Know before you go
Admission and separately operated activities
The park is free to enter and does not use museum-style ID registration. Rides, boats, and winter ice activities operate separately. Check the pier and park notices for prices, minimum group size, hours, and seasonal availability. Call 0431-85663059 or 0431-85664455 to ask about facility status.
Check the current-season fountain notice
A May 2026 notice from “Changchun Release” listed Nanhu Bridge music fountain shows at 20:00, 20:40, and 21:20 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, with each show lasting about 10 minutes. This early-summer schedule does not guarantee three shows in October or on cold evenings. Check “Changchun Release” or the park’s on-site notice on the day before waiting for a show.
Camping and lawn use
The park’s 2026 rules designate Golden Beach, Little West Lake, and the area near Gate 2 as shared green spaces. From May 1 to October 15, visitors may use them for daytime leisure; tents and similar equipment must be taken down and removed by 21:00. At other times, these areas are under maintenance and tents or camping are not allowed. Camping overnight is prohibited throughout the park, and wooden platforms cannot be used for tents or occupied for long periods.
Ice, photography, and walking conditions
On February 19, 2026, the park closed all ice activities and explicitly prohibited walking or skating on the ice. A frozen lake does not mean it is safe or permitted to go onto the ice. View the fountain and lake from public areas on shore; do not stand in the traffic lane on the bridge or enter the rooftop of a shopping center outside the park. Greenway sections have different stairs and slopes; if using a wheelchair, ask the park which entrance suits your route and check current conditions. Check live maps separately for bus connections from West Gate 4.
