Exhibitions in the former film studio
The Changchun Film Studio Museum is at No. 1118 Hongqi Street in Chaoyang District. It uses buildings from the former Changchun Film Studio to tell the story of the film industry and the studio. Visitor areas include the Film Art Museum, the soundstage exhibition area, and the film-processing workshop. This is separate from Changchun Movie Wonderland in the Jingyue area, and not every building in the former studio grounds is open to visitors.
Allow about 2–3 hours for the main museum. If you also want to see the film-processing workshop or a performance, plan around the opening hours of each area. A visit just to the free workshop can take about an hour, but access depends on that day’s opening and performance schedule.

Choose your visit
From film history to production
The Film Art Museum traces the development of Changchun Film Studio and the history of cinema in the People’s Republic of China, with films, scripts, posters, manuscripts, and props. The soundstage exhibition area preserves original spaces used for filming, recording, and sound effects. Seeing the films alongside the production process makes for a more complete visit than treating the site as a set of photo locations.
Decide separately whether to visit the film-processing workshop
The film-processing workshop preserves equipment for developing, printing, and color timing film. It is listed as a free public area, but it closes earlier than the main museum and has also been used as an immersive theater venue. When you arrive, check whether the workshop is open and whether a performance is using the space.
The museum suits visitors who know classic Chinese films, want to understand film processing, or are interested in the film industry. Interactive experiences and live performances follow the day’s program.
For a separate indoor shopping and cultural complex on Hongqi Street, see The Hill (Zhe You Shan).
Build your day
The 2–3-hour main museum route
First confirm which areas your adult ticket covers. Start at the Film Art Museum and follow the displays on the studio’s history and filmmaking, then continue to the soundstage exhibition area if it is open. If a sound-effects interaction or character-led performance is scheduled, fit it in around the on-site times; keep your reserved entry time for the museum.
Visit the earlier-closing workshop first
If the film-processing workshop is open that day, visit it first, then return to the main museum and soundstage exhibition area, which stay open longer. The workshop usually closes earlier than the main museum, and its hours may change by season. In October especially, confirm the closing time before setting out so you do not arrive after the workshop has closed.
Book performances separately
Immersive performances such as “The Missing Master Tape” (《消失的母带》) have been staged in the film-processing workshop, and “Changge Yinghun” (《长歌影魂》) has been performed in the soundstage. Check the current ticket page for each performance’s venue, entrance, duration, price, and schedule. Confirm when buying whether a performance ticket also includes museum admission.
Get there
Metro and bus to Hongqi Street
Huxiqiao Station (湖西桥站) on Changchun Rail Transit Line 3 is a metro arrival point. From the station, walk to No. 1118 Hongqi Street; follow station signs and map directions for the exit and walking route. Changying Bus Stop (长影站) is nearby; routes may change, so check a live map.
No. 54 Tourist Tram
The regular No. 54 tram and the special No. 54 Tourist Tram service are different options. The tourist service departs from near Changying Station and may require advance booking. Check its schedule, boarding location, and ticket details before traveling. Regular tram fares, tourist-service tickets, and museum admission are separate.
Know before you go
Tickets cover specified areas
Adult tickets are currently listed at around CNY 90. A Changchun Culture and Tourism ticket notice stated that the adult ticket covered the Film Art Museum and soundstage exhibition area. Age limits, ID requirements, and concession prices for students, children, seniors, and other eligible visitors may change; check which groups qualify and which areas are included when buying. Free access to the film-processing workshop does not include the entire former studio site.
The main museum and workshop have different hours
The main museum ticket page currently lists hours of 09:00–20:30, with ticket sales ending at 19:30; a city service notice also lists separate peak- and off-season hours. The film-processing workshop usually closes earlier, and the seasonal changeover date follows the museum’s notice. Check the adult ticket cut-off, workshop closing time, and any performance schedule separately.
Exhibitions, photography, and site boundaries
Follow on-site signs around displays, equipment, and interactive exhibits. Do not touch equipment or enter closed factory or work areas. The film-processing workshop may restrict entry or close for a performance. Check that day’s notices for photography, guided tours, interactive experiences, and accessible routes.
