Plan at a glance
An indoor complex shaped like a mountain town
The Hill (Zhe You Shan) is at No. 959 Hongqi Street in Chaoyang District, Changchun. It is an indoor, mountain-town-style shopping and cultural complex, with shops and cultural venues arranged along sloped paths, alleys, and platforms. The mall’s public entrance is free to access; individual shops, restaurants, and experiences set their own hours and charges. Upper-level spaces such as Wenchan Pavilion (问蟾亭) also have their own opening and ticket rules.
One attraction listing shows mall hours of 10:30–22:00, while another lists closing at 24:00, so online hours differ. Use the mall’s notice for the day of your visit. Individual restaurants, events, and shops may close earlier or keep different hours.
Decide whether you are browsing, enjoying the views, or joining an activity
Allow 1–2 hours to explore the indoor space, browse shops, and eat. For photos, viewpoints, a current event, or a slower visit across several floors, allow 2–3 hours. Free entry to the mall does not mean every viewpoint, performance, or interactive activity inside is free.

Choose your visit
Follow the paths and explore the shops
Enter from Hongqi Street’s main entrance. Check the map and open routes, then choose a ramp, stairs, or an available escalator. Shops and rest areas are spread across different levels. There are many branches in the paths, so use the map to choose an uphill and return route. Check on-site signs to see whether rooftop platforms are open.
Check viewpoints and Wenchan Pavilion separately
Some viewpoints face onto public walkways, while Wenchan Pavilion and other themed spaces operate separately. Check entrance signs and ticket sales for which platforms are free, which areas require a ticket, the last entry time, and whether a souvenir coin is included. Access to the public mall does not make every summit area free to enter.
Check current events and shop hours
The Hill combines dining, retail, cultural products, and events; tenants, shows, and craft activities may change. If you are visiting a particular shop, planning to see a Wendao (问道) performance, or joining a specific activity, check the shop or organizer’s current hours and ticket information before you go.
For a separate visit tracing the city’s studio history at its former Hongqi Street site, see Changchun Film Studio Museum.
Build your day
A 1–2-hour indoor walk
Enter through the main entrance, check the map and open floors, and follow one main uphill path. Stop at an open viewpoint, then return the same way or go down another route that is open. With limited time, focus on the indoor architecture, a break, and one or two shops. On-site signs determine whether the summit and rooftop platforms are open.
A 2–3-hour shopping and dining visit
Take your time on one uphill route, then stop for a meal or coffee. Afterward, visit a viewpoint or event space that is open that day. Ramps and stairs between floors add to the walking. When it is crowded, leave room for people to pass when stopping on a platform or taking photos.
Add the Changchun Film Studio Museum on the same day
Both attractions are in the Hongqi Street shopping district, so arrange them around their opening hours. The Changchun Film Studio Museum is at No. 1118 Hongqi Street and has a separate entrance and ticket. The No. 54 Tourist Tram stops near Changying Station on Hongqi Street; before boarding or walking, navigate to each destination and its actual stop.
Get there
Hongqi Street Station on Rail Transit Line 5
The first phase of Changchun Rail Transit Line 5 opened on September 28, 2026, with Hongqi Street Station near the junction of Hongqi Street and Gongnong Avenue. After exiting, search for “这有山 红旗街959号” in a live map and follow directions to the main entrance; check the walking route.
Buses and the No. 54 Tourist Tram
There are several bus stops around Hongqi Street and Huxi Road, and routes may change. Before setting out, check the service, stop, and crossing route for that day. The No. 54 Tourist Tram runs near Changying Station on Hongqi Street and can be combined with a visit to the Changchun Film Studio Museum; walk from the stop to The Hill using a map.
Driving and parking
Navigate to the entrance of The Hill car park or to a nearby public car park that is open that day. Check prices, spaces, and the entry and exit route before leaving. Holiday traffic controls and queues for the mall car park depend on conditions that day.
Know before you go
Free entry and separate charges
The mall’s public entrance is free. Shopping and activities are paid separately through individual shops and event ticketing. Check that day’s ticket information for Wenchan Pavilion, including the price, whether a prayer coin is included, age discounts, and re-entry rules.
Check hours for the mall and each shop
One listing currently shows 10:30–22:00 and another 10:30–24:00; individual shops may keep different hours. Before an evening visit, check the mall entrance, Wenchan Pavilion, and your target shop for last entry. The latest mall closing time online does not mean every floor stays open that late.
Ramps, stairs, and mobility access
The indoor paths include slopes and stairs. Check on site whether elevators or escalators are operating and whether they reach your destination floor. If visiting with seniors, children, or someone with limited mobility, call 0431-81137000 in advance to ask about the entrance and vertical access.
Prayer customs and places outside the mall
Making a wish at Wenchan Pavilion is a personal cultural experience. Follow the on-site rules for photos, queues, and event areas. The Changchun Film Studio Museum and the No. 54 Tourist Tram are outside the mall and each has a separate entrance, schedule, and ticket.
