How to Visit
1

Use it as a central-city buffer

Use Beihu Park as a central-city walk, family stop, or waiting-time filler. Allow 1.5-2.5 hours. It is a buffer stop, not something that should replace Chenzhou's main scenic areas.

Tip:This is a practical rest stop when you need something easy inside the city.
2

Walk a simple south-to-east route

Enter from the South Gate, then walk through the corridor, osmanthus path, bamboo area, lakeside boardwalk, and Shuiyuezhou island before ending near the East Gate boat pier.

Tip:The route is mostly flat, so it is suitable for a slower walk with children or older travelers.
3

Avoid the strongest sun

The park is free and open all day. The best windows are 8:30-11:30 am or 3:00-6:00 pm to avoid strong midday sun.

Tip:This matters most in summer, when a full loop around the lake can feel exposed.
4

Check boat details at the pier

If you want to boat, check the boat types and prices at the East Gate pier. Pedal boats and electric boats feel different; boat rentals are CNY 60-90 per half hour and may require a deposit.

Tip:Boating is optional, so skip it if the weather is hot or the queue is long.
Highlights
  • A long-established city park where you can see local daily life in central Chenzhou.
  • Beihu Shuiyue is the classic lake view, and the lakeside boardwalk is the easiest way to enjoy it.
  • Shuiyuezhou, Chayu Pavilion, and the women's volleyball sculpture add history and city memory.
  • The loop is mostly flat, so it works well for older travelers, children, or anyone avoiding climbs.
  • The East Gate pier offers a short boating option, but it is not essential.
Insider Tips

Bring water and a small snack, as supplies inside the park are limited.

The South Gate on Renmin West Road is more convenient for buses; the East Gate near Guoqing North Road and the boat pier has a small parking area.

Go in the morning or late afternoon to avoid heat, especially in summer.

Pets are allowed but should be leashed; tents and barbecues are not suitable inside the park.

The value here is ease and convenience. Do not expect a major scenic area; if time is tight, use it only as a city break.
