Plan at a glance
Focus on the viewpoints
The main visit at Laotieshan is to walk uphill from the entrance to the “One Mountain Between Two Seas” viewpoint, take in the sea and the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, then return the same way. Allow about an hour for the short route or 1–1.5 hours to stop at several viewpoints along the main path. These times do not include travel to and from central Lushun.
Weather, sea conditions, tides and light affect the contrast between the two bodies of water. If a clear boundary is not visible that day, you can still enjoy the coastline and lighthouse surroundings from the viewpoints.
Arrange both the outward and return trips
The scenic area is remote, and finding a taxi for the return can be difficult. Driving or arranging round-trip transport in advance makes the visit easier to plan. Public transport details—including stops, direction, service frequency and last departures—still need confirmation; do not rely on an unconfirmed bus transfer.

See where the two seas meet
The viewpoint looks toward the waters where the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea meet. The two bodies of water sometimes appear different in color, but a sharp contrast is not guaranteed, even at a particular tide or time of year.
Lighthouse and seasonal birds
The century-old lighthouse is a landmark to view from outside. It has not been confirmed that the interior is open, so do not plan to climb it. Migrating raptors may pass through in autumn, but the timing, weather and visibility all affect whether you can see them.
Build your day
One-hour return walk to the viewpoint
From the ticket entrance, follow the main path uphill to the “One Mountain Between Two Seas” viewpoint. Stop to take in the view, then return to the entrance along the same route. Allow about an hour. If you walk slowly, need time for tickets or face poor weather, allow more time; do not arrive just before ticket sales close.
Visit several viewpoints
For more views along the way, stop at the open platforms on the main path. Allow about 1–1.5 hours. The viewpoints and main path are enough for the scenic-area visit; there is no need to include the steps down to the shore.
Plan the return from remote Lushun
If you are visiting other places in Lushun on the same day, first confirm the roads and driving time between stops. Laotieshan is not a convenient stop to leave by taxi at any time. Arrange your return vehicle and pickup time before setting out.
Get there
Drive or arrange round-trip transport
Navigate to the ticket office for “Yellow Sea–Bohai Sea Boundary Scenic Area.” Driving or arranging a car in advance makes the return journey easier to manage. Before traveling on the remote roads, confirm the navigation route, parking arrangements and return time.
Know before you go
Tickets and ticket-sales cutoff
The indicative adult ticket price is CNY 20. Reference hours are about 07:30–17:30 in peak season, 08:00–17:00 in spring and autumn, and 08:00–16:00 in winter. Check the scenic area’s notice for on-site ticketing and the ticket-sales cutoff that day. Allow enough time to reach a viewpoint and return to the entrance.
Weather, tides and trail safety
The sea’s color changes with the weather and sea conditions. Wind, fog and rain can also affect visibility and walking conditions. Stay on the main path and open viewpoints, follow safety signs and do not cross barriers for a photo.
Wear shoes with good grip and take care on steps and slopes. Bring water before entering this remote area and leave enough time for the return trip.
