Five venues and how long to allow
Laohutan Ocean Park is at No. 9 Binhai Middle Road, Zhongshan District, Dalian. The usual entrance is the main gate facing the parking lot. The visit includes the Polar Pavilion, Coral Pavilion, Happy Theater, Marine Animal Hall and Birdsong Forest outside the main park. Allow about 4–6 hours for all five venues, or 2–3 hours to focus on three.
The standard adult five-venue ticket listed on the park’s official site costs CNY 220 and includes the Polar Pavilion, Coral Pavilion, Happy Theater, Marine Animal Hall and Birdsong Forest outside the main park. Plan the venues in one sequence and leave Birdsong Forest until last. For discounted or other combination tickets, check which venues are included and the rules for leaving, single-entry checks and re-entry.
Tickets and opening hours
Children under 1.3 meters or under six years old may qualify for free admission; reservation requirements vary by ticket type. Tickets generally require real-name booking one to three days in advance through the official mini program or a travel platform. Check whether a child ticket must be booked separately, and use the venue list shown for the exact ticket you select.
The park’s official homepage lists opening hours of 08:30–16:30. The last-entry time and closing times for individual venues and shows may differ. Before setting out, check the opening notice for your visit date and allow enough time for the main venues. Once inside, check the show schedule and adjust your route.

Marine animals and aquarium exhibits
The Polar Pavilion features beluga whales, dolphins, polar bears and penguins, with large viewing windows for watching the belugas and dolphins. The Coral Pavilion has a jellyfish exhibit and an underwater tunnel; the jellyfish wall is a good spot for close-up photos. The Marine Animal Hall focuses on sea lions and seals. The five venues also include live shows and bird exhibits.
Shows and Birdsong Forest outside the main park
The Happy Theater stages a sea lion and walrus show. Birdsong Forest features bird displays and performances, including peacock demonstrations when scheduled. These shows take place in different areas, one inside the main park and one outside it.
Families can choose among the polar animals, jellyfish exhibits and Marine Animal Hall based on children’s interests. If you enjoy photography, include the jellyfish exhibit. If you want to see a live show, check the schedule that day and plan a stop at the Happy Theater.
For a separate harbor-side walk and waterfront views, see Fisherman’s Wharf.
Build your day
Five-venue route: leave Birdsong Forest until last
With the standard five-venue ticket listed by the official site, enter through the main gate and follow a clockwise route: Coral Pavilion → Polar Pavilion → Happy Theater → Marine Animal Hall. Then walk to Birdsong Forest outside the main park. Allow about 4–6 hours. The standard ticket includes Birdsong Forest, so the route ends there without returning to the main park.
For discounted or other combination tickets, first check which venues are included, whether another ticket check is needed after leaving the main park, and whether re-entry is allowed. Ticket rules for the standard five-venue pass do not necessarily apply to other products.
Two- to three-hour short route: focus on three venues
If you have less time, visit the Polar Pavilion, Coral Pavilion and Marine Animal Hall in that order from the main entrance, then leave. Allow about 2–3 hours. This route does not include Birdsong Forest or the Happy Theater; if you want to see a show, adjust the order to fit that day’s schedule.
Shows and interactive activities
The Polar Pavilion has a whale and dolphin show area. You can choose whether to watch a performance based on the schedule for your visit date. Check the official program after entering and plan the pavilion around the specific show time; follow the day’s instructions on when to arrive.

Paid animal interactions
Feeding seals and taking photos with dolphins or sea lions cost extra and are not included in the five-venue ticket. Indicative prices are CNY 30 for feeding and CNY 50–100 for photos. Check availability, participation requirements and prices on site.
Photography outside the park
When taking photos in public areas outside the park, stay on pedestrian routes and keep out of working docks and closed breakwaters.
